Kato’s new mixtape release date set (Sept 12th)

Kato, an up and coming producer/mc hailing from ATL has announced the release date for his mixtape “Ears & Voices”. It’s set to drop on September 12th so be sure to pick up a copy and support the dude.

I’ve worked with him in the past and I can personally attest, he puts out top notch music.

Neah Lee releases new track: Tragedy

Neah Lee, an acoustic christian musician, has released a new track entitled “tragedy” in remembrance of a 10 person mission team (including her aunt and uncle) that died in a car wreck in the phillipines.

While it’s great to hear new material from her its terrible that it came from these circumstances.

I encourage you to check out the track and maybe leave a message to show your support. It’s beautiful yet haunting.

Read her story behind the music after the break.

KPop Group Wondergirls scheduled to perform in NY

source: ampedasia

JYP Entertainment’s The Wonder Girls are likely headed back to the Big Apple in October to be the headline performers of The New York Chuseok Festival. The Festival is held yearly to celebrate Chuseok, which is basically Korea’s version of Thanksgiving. Organizers of the NY Chuseok Festival said that they’re currently talking with JYP to have his artists perform and that there’s a 90% chance that both JYP and The Wonder Girls will both perform. Other JYP Entertainment artists such as Min, G-Soul, 2AM, and 2PM might perform as well.

In the past, korean performer Rich and Asian American up and comer R&B artist Ailee have performed at the same festival.

Quick news bits round up

  • I have very few details except to say that it appears there was a shortlived “beef” between asian american hip hop artists trin monster and kevnish (of Far East Movement) earlier this week. TM posted a bulletin on myspace simply stating “fuck kevnish”. Since then he has put up a blog entry stating that “The beef is now settled.” I wonder what happened.
  • Rousseau, a hip hop artist associated with gunna-fam, the same crew spearheaded by shogunna, has posted a blog on his myspace proclaiming his retirement. The dude wasn’t huge on the scene, but he has been around for a while and definately had skill. Best of luck to him and his future endeavors.
  • Hip Hop DX is reporting that Jin will be releasing his all-cantonese album from last year (ABC) in Hong Kong via Universal Music Group Hong Kong.

New FM & WongFu Video Collab!

Far East Movement has collaborated again with Wong Fu Productions to bring you the new video for their single “Dance Like Michael Jackson”.

The video features Quest Dance Crew and the eagle eyed viewer should also spot Brian Tee of F&F: Tokyo Drift fame, and Amber Nimedez, one of the actresses from Wong Fu’s feature film “A Moment with You”.

Read my thoughts after the break.
