Lookin’ Back: 2000 m.net Music Festival

This is a rare performance from 2000 featuring:
DJ James Jhig, DJ Wreckx, Gorilla Crew, Joosuc, Digiri of Honey Family, Gaeko of CB Mass/Dynamic Duo, Tiger JK of Drunken Tiger, L.E.O of IIMC/Ill Skillz, Hur In Chang of X-Teen, Hoony Hoon, Uhm Jung Hwa, Yoon Hee Jung 3534, Typhoon, Lee Ha Neul, and Day-One

To my knowledge there has been no other performance like this since. Never again has so many korean hip-hop artists from different labels and affiliations come together to perform live. This was during a time when Hip-Hop was still relatively young.

Also, it’s inteteresting to see how under appreciated the genre was. No one in the audience was having fun except for As One. Also Uhm Jung Hwa was kind of pointless but oh well, she did no harm.

A Peek Behind the Scenes at ISA

Far East Movement has posted a video on it’s website showing behind the scenes at the International Secret Agents Concert. It’s a great glimpse of what actually went down. Things like this make me wish I was in California.

Critic’s Corner: Kato – Ears & Voices

As previously promised aTunes is kicking off the Critic’s Corner section of the site with a review of Kato’s Ears & Voices mixtape.

Kato, a mc/producer representing the ATL, has dropped what ultimately amounts to a very strong resume in the form of a mixtape. Ears & Voices purposefully demonstrates all the aspects of Kato’s musical inclination and exhibits a glimpse of the potential within. I don’t want to say this often but Kato tends to remind me of Mike Shinoda a la Fort Minor, from his voice, delivery, and cadence to his musical choices and execution behind the boards on the production end of the spectrum. Not that it’s a bad thing. Also, as a self proclaimed cinema buff, Kato makes interesting use of various voice overs frequently during the span of the album.

Anyways let’s dive right in.

se7en (still) prepping for US debut

credit: Bump This

Based on recent videos released by YG Entertainment and Red Queen Media, KPOP singer Se7en looks to still be preparing for his US debut. Although his release date has been pushed back several times, it appears as if things are falling into place for the r&b singer albeit slowly. Whether or not he will be able to make an impact only time will tell but aTunes wishes him the best. Plus, dare I say, his english is markedly better then a certain other US aspiring KPOP star. *cough* Rain *cough*

videos after the jump.
