aTunes News: Few Updates this Week
Hey everyone. I’m in Beijing for the week for work and I discovered that wordpress is blocked here in China.
SOOO that basically means updates will be few and far between this week. Sorry, not much I can do about this one haha. It was hard enough figuring out a way to post this small update. I’ll try to make it up to you all this weekend when I’m not fighting jetlag.
FM featured on IMEEM
The Far East Movement has made the front page of online music streaming site IMEEM as a featured artist. Scroll about half way down and look to the right.
Great exposure for a great group. Hope bigger and better things continue to happen for them.
WTF: Ken Oak – End Credits
For our second installment of Weekly Thursday Freebies we bring you one of Ken Oak’s earliest songs from 5ish years back. ‘End Credits’ was the first song I ever heard from Ken Oak and to this day it is still one of my favorites. Ken Oak is now part of Oak & Gorski, whose latest CD I am in the process of reviewing.
The song is a catchy track about finalizing the end of a relationship. You can watch the video on youtube first to see if you like it. If you do, you can find the link for the file containing both the music video and the single after the break.
New Heather Park MV released
Heather Park, an R&B artist who’s been doing her thing for quite some time now, recently released the music video for her single ‘Leave Me to Dream’.
It has a great 90′s r&b throwback feel but the video is a tad on the dull side. It is interspersed with scenes from the film West 32nd, but the quality of the music video is actually more crisp than that of the movie scenes, making it almost seem like a fan-made project.
Regardless I suggest you check out the rest of Heather Park’s stuff. She’s definitely very talented.
Johnnyphlo, Decipher, Lyricks, Manifest collab MV released
The music video for the huge collab we posted a preview of before has just been officially released today.
-EDIT-
The video has been featured on WorldStarHipHop.com!
In order: Decipher, Manifest, Lyricks, Johnnyphlo
My thoughts after the break.
Worst Ever: Kim Jung Ah’s glory note
So we haven’t had a Worst Ever feature in a while and I thought this would be a fitting one.

Now we all know that being a pop star doesnt necessarily require the best vocal talent. It’s really all about commercial appeal and marketability. Singing talent is a nice to have but definitely not an absolute requirement. So it’s really no surprise when a KPOP group isnt comprised of the strongest singers ever. Typically a combination of studio magic, lip syncing, back up singers, and just plain knowing your limits are enough to help even the most mediocre stars get by.
WTF: Mountain Brothers – Self Vol. 1
To kick off the Weekly Thursday Freebie I present to you one of the most influential albums put out by an Asian American artist. The MB’s paved the road and inspired many with their debut album ‘Self Vol. 1′ 10 yrs ago. I don’t even know where you can buy this anymore so it’s why I bring it to you. Enjoy.
And just for fun peep the music video to their lead single ‘Galaxies’ after the break.
aTunes News: expansion, plans, WTF
So let’s be real. As much as I love running this site I can’t update/work on it nearly as much as I would like to. In fact just the other day I twittered about how I wish I could blog and do music full time. But unfortunately life won’t let me. I gotta juggle this with the day job.
Not to say I don’t have plans or ambition for this site. I do, but I just don’t have the time resources. So what does that mean? Well I’ll continue to do what I can but if any of you readers are interested, or know someone who may be interested in contributing to the site please let me know. (giftedthought at gmail dot com)
I’m mainly looking for volunteers who can with additional blog post contributors and/or the graphic design/information arch side of things.
Secondly I’d like to announce a new Category of posts entitled WTF. A fun acronym for Weekly Thursday Freebie. It’s just something small I thought I could commit to contributing regulary, every Thursday. It’s just something to share and download for all you asian-american/asian music fans out there. In no way is this meant to undermine the hard work of the musicians out there and if I ever get contacted by an artist to take down a post I will do so gladly. I just think sharing is caring sometimes =). The first WTF is coming up right after this post.
Anyways, thank you to anyone and everyone who reads/visits this site. aTunes is here because of you.
Epik High x FM tour info released
Information for the Epik High & Far East Movement tour we previously reported has been released. I just wish there was a show in the DC area too.

Check after the break for the details!
BoA’s MV for I Did It For Love released
Source: AllKPOP
This was one of the stronger singles from her album. The video really doesnt offer any surprises from the preview released a couple months back. Still a fun song though.
