Epik High x FM Map the Soul tour coverage

Missing the tour? Yea so am I.

Through the magic of the internet we get the next best thing, first-hand accounts. It may not be the same but it’ll have to do.

I’ll update this post as I come across more.

Dumbfoundead interview w/ Urban Decadence

It’s a no-frills interview but it offers some good insights on Dumb and his world.

Thanks to ARW for the find.

Oh, and once Iget his album I’ll post a review, but for those of you who can’t wait UD has a review up already.

Christina Chung photoshoot footage from Seoul

I guess there’s no true purpose to this post other than highlight the fact that Christina Chung is very pretty.

Oh, and she can sing too. I wonder when new music is dropping.

One more after the break. Read the rest of this entry

SRadio interviews the Far East Movement

A good interview just in time for FM’s tour with Epik High. It’s pretty long though haha.

a-Tunes News: Hello World v2.0

As you can see there’s a bit of a new look for a-Tunes along with the proper intergration of our domain name, a-tunes.net.

Content is the same, just a fresh coat of paint. Can’t believe it’s already been close to a year since I started this site. I’ll try swapping bannners at the top more often just to liven things up now and then.

Thank you all for the 40K+ hits. I know that’s small potatoes to the bigger sites out there but it’s great to see for me!

WTF: Jasmine Trias – Jasmine Trias

Since this years third place finisher in American Idol was just determined last night I found it fitting to bring to you Jasmine Trias‘s debut album from 2005.

For a little context, Jasmine was the cutie that finished 3rd place in the 3rd season of American Idol (the year Fantasia won). She hasnt exactly had a great career here in the states but she’s gone platinum in her native phillipines. She’s kind of a big deal there. Also, a fun fact, she had a guest role in apl.de.ap’s music video for the single ‘bebot’.

The album is a tad on the generic side but it aint bad. Although I gotta admit it has some of the worst album art I’ve ever seen.

Given the album is 4 years old now I figured it couldn’t hurt to offer it as this weeks Weekly Thursday Freebie. Link after the break.

Critic’s Corner: Jennifer Chung – Common Simple Beautiful EP

Jennifer Chung is an artist whom the world has been able to witness grow from her humble just-another-cover-singer-on-youtube days. She’s grown a substantial fanbase, performed infront of hundreds of people, released an official music video, done photo shoots, become a youtube partner, and of course released her very first EP album. From her youtube videos we know there is no doubt that she has talent. And based on the view statistics and her word-of-mouth buzz, there is no doubt that she has charm. The question is, can she pull it all together and become a relevant artist with a respectable catalog of songs? This review may be a couple months late, but let’s jump into her EP ‘Common Simple Beautiful’ and find out after the break.

DJ Qbert opens online school

Legendary DJ Qbert is opening the very first video based online DJ school. He is calling it QSU aka Q-Bert Skratch University. In a statement Qbert said

“It’s cool that scratching has so many fans around the world and we can all be in one place now and learn from each other no matter where we live”

The website will have the students upload their videos of their practice sessions for Qbert to review and critque.

An interesting concept from a true innovator of the art. Will it succeed? I suppose only time will tell.

Album Release Reminder: Utada & Dumbfoundead

Just a quick reminder… Utada Hikaru’s ‘This is the One’ drops tomorrow.

Dumbfoundead’s ‘Fun With Dumb’ drops Friday!

I’ll see what I can do about reviews, but I’m quickly falling behind on them =P.

DJ Shine returns to music

DJ Shine, one of the founding members of Drunken Tiger is reportedly staging a return to the music business after leaving DT a few years back.

He is supposedly going to remake Flo-rida’s “Right Round“, the silly (and somewhat suggestive) but catchy track that graced TOP 40 radio the past few months here in the states. Apparently Warner Music Korea wants to recapture some of the success from Wheesung’s remake of Craig David’s ‘Insomnia’ by releasing another remake.

Really? Is this what it’s come to? Remakes of watered down TOP 40 rap music? Actually, I shouldn’t hate or project an opinion before it actually releases but I gotta admit, I’m not enthusiastic about the news.

Tiger JK has since carried on the Drunken Tiger name as a solo artist, and done so admirably at that. So in comparison, I’m not too sure about this latest move from DJ Shine.
