Rin on the Rox … On the Rocks?

Is Rin on the Rox no more? It appears to be that way. Now, understand there’s no reason given as to why the star youtube group has halted activites but they have posted the following tweets:
To everyone who supported ROTR…thank you so much. It may be obvious that roxanne and i decided to take another path with our career, WLY!!
We’re just mainly on a break…So sorry we havnt been on YouTube in awhile…We love and miss you all!
In addition, Erin has started up a new youtube page for herself and she’s already posted up a few solo videos. Is this the end of Rin on the Rox? I guess we’ll find out in time.
For a couple of girls who got famous for singing in their bathroom, invited to Ellen and released a single, its obvious they’ve come a long way. Hopefully their journey will continue.
Dawen Covers Jay Sean’s Down
Dawen has uploaded a cover of UK artist Jay Sean’s infectious single ‘Down’ (which recently hit #1).
It’s a unique acoustic rendition but Dawen’s version has lost some of the charm of the original. It would was kinda cool to see Dawen somewhat sing Lil Wayne’s raps haha. Overall not bad but I don’t think this will replace Jay Sean on my playlist anytime soon.

Note: Mike Isberto also covered the song last month.
WTF: Music Stimulus Package

Everyone loves free music. Whether or not it helps or hurts an artist is an entirely different discussion entirely. But when the artist offers the music up for free, who can argue with that!? For This Week’s Thursday Freebie I’ve gone through our archives and have posted up many of the songs, albums & mixtapes that artists have posted up throughout 2009. Some links take you to file hosting sites, some can be downloaded straight from the link, since I didn’t originally post up the links I have no control over the delivery medium =P.
These were officially released for free by the artists themselves, so if you’re a fan BP & Odds, Decipher, Dumbfoundead, EyeAsage, Jimmy Boi, Johnnyphlo, J. Reyez, Kato, Lyrics Born, Magnetic North, Taiyo Na, Conchita Campos, Paul Dateh, Roscoe Umali, Sci, Shogunna, or Triangle Offense and missed any of these releases than by all means help yourself!
Note, some of these tracks can also be found on the a-Tunes Mix Vol: 1, which is not an official release.
Links after the jump. Enjoy!
Big Phony x KoreAm Live Show Posted

Big Phony in conjunction with the newly relaunched KoreAm have put together a live show that streamed last night but is now posted for those of you who missed it.
Ah, the wonders of the internet. It’s about an hour long, and Big Phony has a very dry sense of humor so there’s a lot of awkward turtle type moments between him and the host. Either way he’s a great artist so def check it out. Don’t forget he has an album coming out in the near future as well!
Sophia Moon Performs ‘Echo’ Live

Sophia Moon has posted up a video of her performing her single ‘Echo’ live at the Emerging Trends Show at The Castle during Boston Fashion Week earlier this month.
“Echo” is the single on Sophia Moon’s solo album titled ‘Staring Back At Me’. Reserve your copy of the album at http://www.rokusa.com. The album is due to release mid to late November.
The video is pretty bad actually, with plenty of blurry/shaky cam action going. Who ever edited the video did their best so salvage the footage with some effects but it really isnt a great watch. On a brighter note, the audio came out clean (sounds like they may have layered the studio track on top of the live audio). You can hear the song loud of clear and its really a pretty catchy pop song. Looking forward to the rest of the album!
Triangle Offense Releases New Single – TGIF
Sci & his group Triangle Offense have released a new single entitled ‘TGIF’ or ‘Thank God Im Fresh’. The song is pretty self explanatory given the title.
They are offering it as a free download so just click on the cover art to get it!
I’m on the fense as to whether I hate it or love it. It’s definitely a fun song, and the production is banging but there are parts of the song I’m loving and parts I could do without. At the very least it’s a fresh sound and that in itself warrants a download.
Check out what Sci had to say about the song after the jump!
Elise Estrada Cast In a Feature Film

Canadian pop singer Elise Estrada has been cast in the belated sequel to the 90′s comedy ‘Beverly Hills Ninja‘. The film is entitled ‘The Legend of the Dancing Ninja‘.
Check out her post on facebook:
Elise Estrada in a movie?!?!? a movie?!?! YES!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone remember the 1997 flick ‘Beverly Hills Ninja’ staring Chris Farly? Well our very own Elise Estrada has been cast to co-star in the squeal called ‘The Legend of the Dancing Ninja’ staring Lucas Grabeel (from High School Musical), David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch and so much more!) and a number of other amazing cast mates.
Elise’s rehearsals start tomorrow and then right into filming, you can expect some vlogs, blogs and tweets!!! Be sure to have clicked “Become A Fan” on Elise Estrada’s OFFICIAL Facebook Fan page so you don’t miss out. You can also follow Elise on twitter (@EliseEstrada) or follow me (@TheAmberHope) for exclusive behind the scene updates.
I have my doubts on whether this movie will be any good but its great to see Ms Estrada broadening her horizons outside of music. a-Tunes wishes her the best!
Thaitanium Releases MV w/ Blahzay Blahzay & Lil’ Fame of M.O.P.
Thai rap group Thaitanium has released a new track & MV for the single ‘No Stopping Us’ featuring veterans MCs Blahzay Blahzay & Lil’ Fame (of M.O.P.). This will be their first single from their upcoming album ‘Still Resisting’ set to drop the end of November.
The video is sorta typical but the song’s pretty nice. Definitely feeling the production, the sample’s pretty slick. The MC’s really did their thing here and it’s always great to see music go international with collaborations.
For more information on the group and this collab check out the original post over at ARW.
Jazmin Interview w/ The Trusted Beauty Guide

Pop/R&B family group Jazmin recently had an interview with The Trusted Beauty Guide about how they stay looking great. It’s not music related at all but its good to see any type of press on these girls =). They talk about their beauty/make up tips and how they keep a healthy lifestyle.
I guess it’s not just great genes for these sisters =).
OK, I feel like I need to go drive a monster truck and break beer bottles over my head now. Something to man up haha. But if you’re interested, by all means check out the article yourself!
a-Tunes News: New Look, New Friends
What’s going on a-Tunes!?
So hopefully you’ve noticed we’ve got a new look. Still not 100% sure how I feel about it (like how everything is left aligned) but I thought it was time to switch things up without waiting a whole year like I did last time =). Leave a comment and let me know if you hate it or love it =)
Also, I wanted to take a chance to announce the new kid on the block. Ellie (of Seoulbeats fame) has started a new site called AAtheory, and they aim to spotlight Asian American media & culture so be sure to check em out and show your support! They’ve been added to the links on the right so you should always have a way to get there from this site as well.
That’s it! As I said, let me know what you think of the new look.
Thanks for being an a-Tunes reader!
