Snoop Dogg x Quest Crew x FM Release ‘I Wanna Rock’ MV

Snoop Dogg’s latest video featuring Quest Crew along with a cameo appearance from FM dropped a few days ago. I know I’m a little bit late to the party but forgive me, it’s been a busy holiday weekend =).
Quest kills it in fine fashion as FM briefly appears around the 2:11 mark. Gotta love it! This is the hardest Snoop single I’ve heard in a while.
Taiyo Na Releases ‘Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother)’
This is the result of the video shoot that went down earlier this year and is probably the realest thing I’ve seen in a while. ‘Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother)’ is from his album, ‘Love is Growth‘. Much respect to Taiyo Na for shining light on the people perhaps most responsible for where many of us are today. Much love to all the immigrant mothers out there.
From the youtube page:
To commemorate this Thanksgiving weekend. I thought it would be appropriate to send this beautiful music video out to the world called Lovely to Me (Immigrant Mother) by New York based artist Taiyo Na from his debut album Love is Growth. I completed the final cut of the music video on Thanksgiving day and thought it would be nice to give thanks to our moms and to all the people who shared part in raising us.I want to give a very special shout out and thank you to Taiyo Na for trusting me and for allowing me to take his song on this journey, to back up his beautiful song with visuals and stories from our community here in Philadelphia form Chinatown to Love Park and beyond.
A very big thank you to David Lin and the Asian Arts Initiative for helping to produce this project. As well as Eric Law and Wai Man Ip from Chinese Arts and Crafts, Inc. and Karen Thai from QT Vietnamese Sandwich in Chinatown.
This is not just a music video it’s a community arts film project involving so many voices and volunteers. I thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who were apart of this vision. I could not have done it with out you. I was merely the conductor orchestrating all these amazing moments. I only hope that what you see is something that is unique, honest, and powerful.
Please share this with your friends, family, loved ones close and far. I hope this is a reminder to us all where we all came from.
If you like what you see please support Taiyo Na by purchasing his debut album “Love is Growth” at www.taiyona.com

Seriously Interview w/ KoreanBeacon
KoreanBeacon got the chance to sit down w/ Seriously and do a short interview them, discussing how they came together as a band, what motivates them now, and what they believe it takes to be a success. It’s a pretty insightful interview, if not very subdued haha. Check it out and you’ll know what I mean. The energy level seemed a bit low.
How hard is it to be an all-Asian band trying to make it? Real hard! We met up with “Seriously” while they were touring through the northeast corridor and they shared with us their love for music and the sacrifices they made along the way. So how did 3 Korean guys and a Vietnamese dude from southern California come together to make a band? It all started when they assembled for the famed Kollaboration talent show and won it. They’ll readily admit to you that right before the concert, the music wasn’t sounding to harmonious but by the grace of God, it all came together and they quickly shot to fame in the Asian music scene. Has it been easy for Josh, Philip, Nathan and Chris since Kollaboration? Not necessarily but they continue to make music and pursue their heart’s passion and they hope to break through the multitude of barriers. Meet the band “Seriously.”
Sam Ock Releases New Single – ‘Storge’
Sam Ock‘s been real busy lately and he’s crafted another song called ‘Storge’. It’s a bit more rock oriented than some of his past releases and in the usual fashion he’s offered it up as a free DL.
Hello all, haven’t done a rock song in a while!
I wrote this last night, the night of Thanksgiving, 2009.
This song is called “Storge” (pronounced stor-gey). Storge is the greek word for affectionate love, like a parent towards their child. This song is about a parent trying to tell their child how much they love them, basically. I know I can relate to a lot of asian people in the fact that their parents were quite stoic (namely fathers) in regards to their children. I think this is because they’re trying to be the rock of the family, showing their love by their work, not so much their intimacy. In the same way, children don’t really see their parents as individual people with feelings and dreams, as much as a figure of example. Well, I know deep inside, everyone is longing to be compassionate towards another. I guess that’s the kind of gist I was going for in this song.
I really liked the instrumentation on this one but I thought the mixing was a bit rough. His vocals got drowned out occasionally. The writing, while great in concept, came off a bit trite to me. But that’s just my opinion. You can catch the lyrics after the jump.

i formed this band when i attended Berklee College of Music in Boston & we’ve played both coasts of the United States & recorded over summer. hopefully we all find the time to record a whole album over the course of next spring.
Dumbfoundead x Map the Soul Offer Free Song DL

Check it out as dumb name drops nearly all the entire map the soul crew. This is a continuation of a project Epik High announced last month where they release free music for all us cheapskates. You can get the track here.
Gotta love it, and also you may have noticed dumb leaves a warning that he’s coming for Korea 2010. Not to mention I just saw this tweet this morning from Tiger JK himself:
@dumbfoundead , yo , gotta hit me up , gotta do something
This is crazy… will dumb become a part of the Movement?
A (Belated) Thanksgiving Song from The Nehemiah Band
It’s a day late but TNB (or one of their members on their behalf) has shared a quick song to reflect on the holiday. This is my first time hearing him sing in such a stripped down fashion but he sounds good. He has a David Crowed like quality to his voice.
Happy Belated 2009 Thanksgiving from TNB.
The month of November marks our band’s anniversary.
It was 2 Novembers ago at WPCA, when The Nehemiah Band was conceived.
Lyrics:
Lyrics:
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Happy Thanksgiving everyoneThis is the time to remember His love
This is the time to forgiveIt’s our time to let it go
It’s our time to overcome
Cuz this war that we’ve been battling
Has already been won
Lookin’ Back: 1TYM x J Cover ‘Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)’
This is one of my favorite covers from back in the day. Korean American come KPOP stars Teddy & Danny of 1TYM and J did a special stage collab where they covered the song ‘Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)’ by Mariah Carey x Joe x Nas.
I remember loving this as they brought a little bit of their home western flavor to a very poppy sounding industry back then. In hindsight the performance wasn’t perfect, but its still just as entertaining.

J. Reyez x Hang x Fedarro Release ‘Good Girl’
J. Reyez dropped a new single in conjunction with Hang & Fedarro. It’s a pretty solid song, good production on the beat and the singer on the hook was on point. I wasn’t feeling the mixing though. My guess is it was recorded on completely different set ups as the sound was really inconsistent. Also the first verse wasn’t on the same level as the other two MCs.
What do you all think? Feeling this one?
