The Misnomer(s) have been featured in an ad for the upcoming video game “Def Jam Rap Star”. They have a couple shots in the ad and it’s awesome to see them representing! Let’s hope one day their songs will be in the actual game too. These girls are no strangers to being featured in ads as they’ve done work for other companies such as Target as well.

EyeASage aka Rocky Rivera Interview W/ C’est La Vie

EyeASage aka Rocky Rivery broke it down with C’est La Vie and gave her insight on her various aliases, motherhood, her different grinds and what the future holds in store. It’s a great interview and I definitely recommend you check it out.

What should we expect from the upcoming 2010 New Year from Ms. Krish and/or Rocky Rivera?
The self-titled album drops February 2, 2010, so be on the lookout for a Rocky Rivera tour on the West Coast and Hawaii! Also, I got two more videos in the works, aside from my first, “MRSHMLO”, so you might be able to see “Dr. Rocky” in all her glory . 2010 is year of The Rock!

If you’re too lazy to head on over to C’est La Vie you can catch the interview after the jump!

Michelle Martinez Covers Mariah Carey… and Slays It!

Covering Mariah Carey is no easy feat… but Michelle Martinez does it with ease. Check this clip of her covering ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’.

She makes it seem so easy. I’ve only recently discovered Michelle but I’m glad I have. I’m seriously blown away. Don’t know too many people who can cover this song and make it sound just as good as the original. Props!

Dumbfoundead Rap Battle Turns Real?!?

dumbfoundead has been tweeting all day about a rap battle that had reportedly gone to far. I’m not entirely sure it’s real though, its tough to tell…

What do you guys think? Epic moment in battling history or a stunt?

Either way, dumb got the last laugh…

[edit] the more I watch it the more I think it’s all for fun. good stuff though. Dumb is a ninja assassin.

Scott Yoshimoto x AJ Rafael x Cathy Nguyen x Andrew Garcia x Lydia Paek x Ramiele Malubay – ‘The Gift of Music MV’ Released

We told you it was coming, and now it’s finally hear just in time for Christmas week. It’s not so much a ‘Christmas’ song as it is a Holiday song as it’s very secular in theme. It’s also very, very cheesey but that doesn’t make it unenjoyable. Once you get over the fluffy bunny, rainbows and butterfly type of syrupy tone I think you’ll be able to appreciate the video and song for what it is, a collection of very talented Asian American artists wanting to spread some winter cheer.

The video theme of browsing a youtube page is pretty interesting, especially considering everyone except one of the artists (Ramiele Malubay) is a well known Youtube star (to varying degrees). It’s great to see them pay homage to the media that’s helped gather them so much attention. Speaking of Ramiele, it’s also good to hear from her since things have been a bit quiet since her run on American Idol a few years back. Lastly it was fun to see Lydia show just a little bit of her dancer roots.

Happy Holidays everyone.

Johnnyphlo Announces Album Release Date & Cover

Johnnyphlo’s has just announced the release date for his upcoming debut full-length album ‘Basic Strategy’. It’s all set to drop January 19th, 2010, nearly a year after the release of his mini-album ‘The Notebook‘. This time around he’s collaborated with a list of artists that reads like who’s who of all the top Asian American talent.

We’ve been informed that Ailee, Decipher, DJ Zo, EXP (aka Explicit Linez), James Ha, JL, Lyricks, Manifest, Sam Ock, Schoolboy DUKE, Shogunna, and Viruss 44 are all on the album! A couple of the tracks have been released already like ‘One of the Best‘ and ‘‘Too Late‘ but it seems like there’s a lot more to look forward to.

JP is also holding an album release party in NY, so if you’re in the area you can find out more details at his site.

IZreal Releases ‘Never Fall 2010′ MV

Just as we reported, IZ has finally dropped his new video for ‘Never Fall 2010‘. First of all, the production quality is LEGIT on this video. Red Reel did an awesome job. FM’s got a cameo at the 1:53 mark. Also look for appearances from Ben Baller, Jimmy Boi, and Lisa Kim Flemming and Alexia Lei. I’m loving the production of the beat, and overall the song’s pretty decent though I could do without the hook. I’m enjoying the shots of LA too, makes me want to go out there again. Not bad, not bad at all.

Quest Crew x Baby Bash x Pitbull – “Outta Control” MV Released

Quest Crew has announced that the MV for Baby Bash’s “Outta Control” has officially dropped. Why is this note worthy? Because besides featuring Pitbull on the track, the video features Quest doing what they do best, tearing up the dance floor.

Quest is on point, but it seems like they are re-using a lot of moves lately. The song has a great beat but I wasn’t crazy about it overall. Personally I enjoyed the MV fo Snoop’s “I Wanna Rock” a lot more but either way I’m always down to see Quest get that exposure.

And the girl that plays the DJ is a living advertisement for the use of double sided tape.

Bekah (of After School) covers Corinne Bailey Rae

A video of Bekah (a weird spelling of Becca short for Rebecca), a native of Hawaii and member of the KPOP girl group After School, has been posted by her management company showcasing her signing vocals. Although it’s tough to tell exactly how expansive her abilities are with song, the girl shows a lot of promise and control for someone who has been relegated as the token rapper of the group. It’s a short clip but left me intrigued.
