Showdown: JR Aquino x AJ Rafael x Andrew Garcia vs David Choi vs Mike Isberto vs Legaci vs Victor Kim vs Olivia Thai x Jason Chen vs BLYSS

So IYAZ’s “Replay” seems to be one of the most covered songs recently. I can’t blame em, it’s a catchy fresh song and isn’t too difficult to flip. So this edition of Showdown we have a very special line up that’s shaping up to be a battle royale. Without further ado let’s bring on the main event.

JR Aquino x AJ Rafael x Andrew Garcia

David Choi

Mike Isberto

Legaci x Summerbreeze

Victor Kim

Olivia Thai x Jason Chen

BLYSS (3 out of 4)

With so many choices it may be hard to choose a favorite but my vote goes to Legaci x Summerbreeze. They were just too smooth. What about YOU!?

Legaci Covers ‘Say It’ by Voices of Theory

It’s not even fair anymore. Legaci completely owns the r&b cover game on youtube.  Plus they can all play instruments! They’ve all rotated haha.

But anyways, this is another exquisite cover by the Bay area natives as they sing ‘Say It’ by Voices of Theory. And as usual they are offering it as a free DL. At this point, how can you not save their music? Also, watch till the end for a random treat. I use the word ‘treat’ loosely =P.

Kat Badar x Cathy Nguyen x Jenny Suk x Jasmine Rafael Team Up to Form BLYSS

Four very talented individual sings have teamed up to form the girl group BLYSS. Composed of Kat Badar, Cathy Nguyen, Jenny Suk, and Jasmine Rafael (sister to AJ Rafael) this group has decided to take their youtube singing swag and throw it together to create a super group of sorts.

They start things off by covering the very difficult song ‘Emotions’ by Destiny’s Child. So how did they do?

To sum it up they did a good job but not FANTASTIC. There’s a lot of talent here but I think there are a couple minor kinks to work out. It’s possible they just chose a nearly impossible song to cover but it just lacked that extra X factor, though I expect them to get there very soon. Looking forward to seeing this group take the YT world by storm!

Priscilla Ahn x KoreAm x The Mighty Fifty Present ‘Living In A Tree’ Live Performance

Presented by KoreAm Journal and produced by The Mighty Fifty, a live performance with Priscilla Ahn.

Late last year Priscilla Ahn did a live web show for KoreAm. The performances were shot by video production group The Mighty Fifty and they have released one of the numbers earlier today. Sound work was done by Peter Rocks (of My Ninja!) fame. I haven’t had a chance to check out the footage yet but all of the people involved rarely dissapoint so I doubt this will.

Dumbfoundead x Wax x DJ Zo Release ‘Hollyhoodrats’

Dumbfoundead isn’t easing off his grind in 2010. He’s just dropped a brand new collab with Wax and the song is available as a free download. The song is classic dumb, cleverly written with a heavy goofy spin. Wax definitely holds his own as they trade lines back and forth. And DJ Zo is on point but then again when is he not? This is text book underground westcoast hip-hop. That ain’t a bad thing mind you. An official MV is said to be in the works so keep your eyes peeled for that.

You can download it here http://bit.ly/DFDWAX MUSIC VIDEO TO COME.. Wax and I decided to write a song about stupid chicks in LA. If you’re not familiar with Wax, he’s very talented and is about to do some major things in 2010. Chris V, from Atlanta produced the track. DJ Zo on the cuts.
