Inspire 2010 Will Be Held Jan 16th

I’ve been meaning to post this up for a while now but it kept slipping my mind. Inspire, a yearly Christian music festival held in Southern California coincidently also tends to host a lot of Asian American talent. Although neither the purpose nor focus of this event is to highlight that particular scene I thought it was worth mentioning in case any of you didn’t know about it and are interested in hearing what some of your favorite artists are all about and what inspires them. (No pun intended)

This year will feature performances and appearances by Sam Ock, Seriously, Clara Chung , Scooter Oyama, Del Augusta, and Mike Whang of The Nehemiah Band. I’ve never personally been to the Inspire events but if you’re curious about learning more, I suggest you check it out. I’ve heard a lot of good things.

The entire event will also be focused on raising awareness for the flood disasters in the Phillipines.

Additional details after the break!

Kato Produces ‘Ham!’ for The Beat Gods x 4-Ize

Kato’s got a new production credit for The Beat Gods on their latest single ‘Ham!’ featuring 4-Ize. The songs a banger and Kato killed it on the production tip. It’s catchy good old fashioned hip-hop. Don’t take my word for it, check it out over at Kato’s site.

Lydia Paek x Victor Kim Cover ‘Every Time You Lie’ By Demi Lovato

Check the latest cover by Lydia Paek, accompanied by Victor Kim on the guitar. They cover ‘Every Time You Lie’ by Demi Lovato and though the audio quality isn’t the greatest Lydia definitely shines in moments. She has such a great voice. It’s crazy how both of them are not only incredible dancers, but musicians and singers as well.

On a side note, Victor’s expressions as his girl and Lydia talk back and forth over the phone are hilarious.

Clara Chung Covers Alicia Keys

I’ve only recently come across Clara Chung’s music but I gotta say I was fairly impressed with this medly cover of two of Alicia’s most recent hits, ‘Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart’, and ‘Empire State of Mind’. It’s not that Clara had any crazy runs or got all r&b diva on us, but rather she gave a somewhat subtle, understated vocal that I really appreciated. The girl’s got a soulful voice and I’m digging that.

However, I had some mixed opinions on her quirky one handed instrumental but it doesn’t negate the fact that this baby faced girl has a voice years beyond her appearance. And lastly, if you want this song for keeps, you she’s put it up as a free DL here.
