Johnnyphlo’s “Basic Strategy” Album Officially Released

After thanking all his supporters at his album released party, Johnnyphlo goes on to announce that his debut full-length album ‘Basic Strategy‘ has been officially released today.

The album is on sale for $10 via paypal but 50% of the proceeds will go towards the relief efforts in Haiti. It will also be available via different online retailers in the near future.

Like I explain in the video blog, I’m going to donate 50% of my sales to Haiti. I’ve never been the type to really go out of my way to help the others around the world. I was always caught up in my own life and lives of those around me that I never bothered to look around to help those that’s really, really in need. With everything that’s happened for me for the past year or so, I just feel so blessed and felt like it was only right to give it back to the world, no matter how small it may be. Also to be honest, I did feel like it will motivate some of you to purchase the album to support the cause. It ain’t about the money. It’s more important to me that you listen to my music and I hope you can feel better knowing that part of what you pay for will go to help those in need!

If the album is as strong as the singles he’s dropped so far, it should be a great listen. We’ll have a review for you as well soon.

Clara Chung x Gerald Ko cover ‘Fireflies’ by Owl City

Add this to the list of ‘Fireflies’ covers, but I’d recommend you put it near the top because it’s definitely a fun little cover by the two youtube stars.

Gerald Ko (aka Singindork888) and Clara Chung put their own great spin on this one. Most of all I love how organic the arrangement and composition is of this cover. If you’re digging this as much as me then it’s available as a free download. Only complaint I have is how it ended so abruptly.

I can always appreciate a good collab =).

Andy Suzuki Covers ‘Best I Ever Had’ by Drake

It’s a little weird to hear these lyrics set to such a beautiful acoustic interpretation of the Drake smash-hit, but Andy and company do just that. Their version of the song is definitely unique and I liked how they flipped it though it came off a bit unnatural at times. The violin was a nice touch though, and the arrangement plus Andy’s vocals were on point overall.

Sam Ock Interview @ Inspire 2010

Check this interview of Sam Ock at the Inspire 2010 event from last week.

It’s a pretty chill interview, laidback with breezy questions. If you ever wondered how Sam got started with music, what he would do in different situations, and what his music is all about then make sure you don’t miss this one!

Melissa Polinar Covers Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed”

Melissa Polinar, is such an extremely talented musician it’s a shame I haven’t been keeping up more with her work. Check out her latest cover of Stevie Wonder’s classic song ‘Overjoyed’.  She keeps it simple, clean, classy but most of all puts her own unique spin on it that I fully appreciate it.

There’s something about her voice that is so unique, it really helps set her apart from the scores of other youtube musicians out there.

The Sweet Hurt x The Mighty Fifty Release ‘Where Would You Go?’ Live Performance Video

The Sweet Hurt has joined up with video production group The Mighty Fifty to bring us a live performance clip of the song ‘Where Would You Go?’. Similar to their work with Big Phony, TMF presents a very crisp, clean, and fresh video that really lets the song shine more than anything else.

It’s a sweet, indie folk rock of a performance and I look forward to hearing more from The Sweet Hurt.

Jin vs Dizaster Battle Officially Off

The much anticipated battle between Jin & Dizaster has been officially called off by Jin himself. Although initially excited for the event, it seems the complicated delays and continual badgering from Diz has caused Jin to reconsider the entire thing and just call it off altogether. No word on the situation with Illmaculate though.

Though I’m dissapointed its not gonna go down I respect Jin’s reasoning and wish both MC’s the best.

JR Aquino Album “Exposure” Now Available

For those of you who have been waiting JR Aquino’s album Exposure has finally been released today. If you’re in the US your best bet is to get it from iTunes (which sucks if you don’t use iTunes like me). Either way I’ll figure out a way to get my hands on it but in the mean time you apple lovers should be able to pick it up easily. JR also covers Lady Gaga at the end of the video.

Check after the break for availibility!
