Mike Isberto Releases New Original – ‘Always Been a Dreamer’

The sensitive rocker Mike Isberto is staying hard at work, constantly releasing covers and the occasional original song. This time we have the latter as he presents his latest work – ‘Always Been a Dreamer’.

It’s a very soothing song and true to his style. I hope he records a studio version soon because I think he could do a lot with this track while still retaining its simplistic charm. I really like the lyrics, it does well in keeping with the ‘dream’ like quality of the song. Great job Mike!

Anan Ryoko x Kero One Release ‘Forever We Will Be’

Anan Ryoko, a contemporary Japanese piano artist has linked up with San Francisco rapper Kero One to create the single ‘Forever We Will Be’. I have no idea what anime or show they are using in the above video but the song itself has beautiful instrumentation. Anan Ryoko really has a knack for beautiful melodies. Kero One does his thing but I think Anan really deserves the props for this one, though it is great to hear new material from Kero.

The song is available on iTunes Japan.

Geo aka Prometheus Brown Releases “Michelle Malkin”

Geo aka Prometheus Brown of the Blue Scholars has dropped a new single caleld ‘Michelle Malkin’. Name sound familiar? She’s a conservative blogger/columnist that can frequently seen on Fox News. Prometheus used a Sade sample that related to something Michelle said on the air and turned it into the aforementioned politically charged single. It’s not so much a criticism on a politcal wing more than it is a direct criticism of the seemingly hypocritical stances Michelle often takes.

It’s available for free download, though you have to provide your e-mail for the link via widget.

When all else fails, listening to old records and watching garbage TV always somehow provides refuge from the songwriting rut. Here’s an example.

One: I was bumping some old Sade in anticipation of her new Soldier of Love album. Two, I was flipping channels during halftime of a UW basketball game and landed on Fox News, where Michelle Malkin was back at it doing what she does best, spewing the same old same: Tea Party this, moonbats that. But for the first time in my life, I agreed with her on something: You rappers need to go get a job!

As fate would have it, Sade’s “Feel No Pain” (Love Deluxe, 1992) has a vocal sample with her singing the line “get a job.” What are the chances? So I flipped the beat, sampled the vocals, and wrote this song about my favorite neo-conservative Filipina blogger. And what better timing to share it with you all than on the week that Sade’s new album drops?

I wish all songs came this easily. Don’t you miss when overt racists were in power? Enjoy.

Paul Dateh x Esna Yoon x Ken Belcher Cover ‘I Wish You Love’

Paul Dateh and his main partner in crime Ken Belcher recently jammed with Esna Yoon and posted up a sweet cover of the old pop standard ‘I Wish You Love‘. I thought it was a great choice considering both of the vocalists have that old fashioned, classic type of voice that really fits this genre of music. In fact they sound so good together perhaps they should consider doing an entire project dedicated to this style of music.

Jennifer Chung x Melissa Polinar x Alyssa Bernal Cover Kina Grannis

As an awesome show of support, Jennifer Chung, Melissa Polinar and Alyssa Bernal have joined forces to cover the recently released single ‘Valentine’ by Kina Grannis. The song’s been out only a few days but the fanfare is apparent as these fellow youtube stars come together to show their love for Kina.

It’s definitely a cute cover. If you missed the original song and video, check it out here!

Manifest x Decipher x X-Facta Release ‘Popular’

In preparation for the release of his upcoming mixtape Open Bars, Manifest has released another track. This one features Decipher along with X-Facta on the beat.

These guys went in hard on this one. It’s good to see some MC’s can still keep it lyrical now a days. I’m also digging how nearly the whole east coast is represented on this one; from NY to Philly to VA. Good stuff.

This is the fourth song to be released off the mixtape (after ‘My Way‘,”Sunny 808’s“, and ‘Cube Runners‘. Sounds pretty good so far!
