Hydroponikz Features on re:plus Track – Time Goes By
Check out the new MV for the song ‘Time Goes By’ by re:plus featuring Hydroponikz on the verses and Anika Hazel on the hook. It’s a beautifully arranged track but it’s too bad none of the artists are in the video (that I can tell anyways).
The track is off re:plus’s album Everlasting Truth, available on iTunes (Japan?) 3/3/10. The song actually reminds me a lot of the recent collab of Kero One and Anan Ryoko. Gorgeous instrumentation paired with smooth, laid back rhymes. These international collabos are killing it!

AJ Rafael Releases New Song – ‘(500) Days’
AJ Rafael’s got a brand new track to share and it’s called ‘(500) Days’. You can probably already guess what inspired the song from the title. The video quality is so friggn crisp here, I’m loving it. Personally I’m digging the writing but I think I need to let the melody grow on me. Perhaps I should actually see the movie, maybe then I’d connect with the song more haha. Hopefully this is the first of many new songs to come!
this song was inspired heavily by the movie “(500) Days of Summer”. this is the first song i’ve written since “When We Say (Juicebox)”! so i was so excited to finally put this up. hope you enjoy the nods to the movie within my lyrics. =)

Tim Be Told Releases Live Footage from Neon Light Sessions
Check out the new footage posted up by Tim Be Told from something they call the Neon Light Sessions. It looks to be a small, intimate concert event. The audio quality is kind of hit or miss since its all coming from the camera mic which is constantly panning. The band sounds great though but it seems like it took a while for the audience to warm up. They sang two of their originals along with a cool cover of Rihanna.
‘Analyze’
‘Collision’
‘Take a Bow’
Note: Don’t forget to check out our exclusive Q&A with the band if you haven’t already.
Illmind Interviews w/ Beat Kings
BeatKings.com has posted up a phone interview with famed producer extraordinaire Illmind. They get pretty in depth to when he started (the genesis of the interview era back in the early 2000′s) to his earliest influences (J. Dilla) and what he’s been using to craft his signature sound over the years (it’s a ton of different equipment). They really break it down and get technical with his music making process and how he’s grown and progressed since he started. They also discuss who he enjoys working with and his favorite memories along the way. Sorry for the spoiler but he reveals he’s got a full length album in the works with Redman!

Priscilla Ahn Covers ‘Julia’ by The Beatles
Priscilla Ahn has released this sweet cover of the Beatle’s song “Julia”. As a bonus she’s set the music to various footage from her international tours. It’s a simple yet personal look at her recent musical escapades. This woman never ceases to impress me.
Today was a beautiful, crisp, windy day. When I looked outside there was a big morning moon hanging so delicately in the sky. It made me think of my favorite Beatles’ song, “Julia”. I realized I didn’t have the song in my computer though, and crazy enough, The White Album isn’t available to purchase on itunes! (There’s something I sort of like about that though)
So I decided to cover it. It only took me 30 minutes, and it was simply to satisfy the “fix” I needed to hear, sing, and play this song. You can hear a lot of lip smacking, and a lot of unfinished ‘ideas’ of harmonies….
I’ve put the song to a bunch of tour videos* I’ve been collecting over the past 3 years. I didn’t try to synch anything up. These are just randomly chosen clips** that I really like. (sigh…) I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am just not a perfectionist, and I never will be. So take it as you will. I hope you enjoy it.
love,
