Legaci x Justin Bieber x Sean Kingston Collab… Sorta

Yes ladies and gentlemen, you read the headline correctly. Legaci, Justin Bieber, and Sean Kingston did share the same stage, and they did sing together on the same song at the same time, the only catch was that Legaci was singing backup for the huge teen sensation, Justin Bieber, and fellow youthful artist Sean Kingston. They performed an acapella version of the song “Eene Meenie” and while it’s fun and harmless the whole thing really made me wish the more talented Legaci was in the forefront doing their thing.

I’m not hating on Justin, I think the kid is certainly talented though a bit over saturated on the radio. As for Sean Kingston, I’ll admit he had a catchy hit or two though I certainly think he’s the weakest link here. I’m still not convinced he has longevity in his career. I guess all I’m saying is, at the end of the day I’m a huge Legaci fan and can’t wait to see them at the front of the stage.

Blue Scholars Release New Single for DL – “Paul Valéry”

Blue Scholars has got some fresh music for free download. This one is entitled “Paul Valéry” and samples the hit tune “Fireflies” by Owl City. I really like how the flipped the electronic melody and added some of their trademark sparse drum instrumentation. Geo does his thing and gets conceptual on the track. The Blue Scholars gang rarely dissapoints and this is no different. Lucky for you it’s a free download so you can enjoy some of this action for free.

“The trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be.” – Paul Valéry

Remember when The Future was dope? We were swerving on hoverboards in a neon-colored techno-utopia, planet hopping in spaceships, and dressing like Jesus but with pointy sunglasses.

Now, the future is a post-apocalyptic zombieland, the aftermath of some worldwide cataclysm we have yet to experience.  Some cling to the old vision of the future. Others have bought into the new one hollering all that 2012 bullsh*t.

Meanwhile miss Future herself screams at us to leave her alone so that she can party like it’s 1999, again.  And we hear her. But first, we had to eulogize her.  Last time we saw her, she was stumbling drunk on the street humming an Owl City tune that she insisted was a Postal Service song.  She didn’t believe us when we told her, and haven’t seen her since.

In her honor, we sampled that tune, and wrote this song in dedication to the once and future Future.  We miss you, but we can never go back to what we had.

Shin-B to Perform Alongside Jay Sean, Leessang, MC Mong & More

This April, those of you in the LA area should head on out to Seoulful, a huge concert event featuring some big Korean Music names along with local veteran femcee Shin-B. The event will also (some what surprisingly) feature hit singer Jay Sean. You can’t hate on that. IZ was supposed to perform at the event as well but word has it he had to drop out of the billing. That leaves a slot open so who knows, you know know who they might find to replace him!

I know we say this often, but it looks like you won’t want to miss this event. Plus it’s hosted by extremely funny comedians Danny Cho and PK!

Dumbfoundead Drops MV for ‘Night Riders’

In a pleasant surprise, Dumbfoundead has released a new music video for his track ‘Night Riders’ from his album Fun with Dumb. Much of the video is appropriately shot at night all around LA. There’s nothing fancy here besides some minor green screen action though the quality is sharp. Overall it matches the vibe of the track  though I still find “Rapper-O’s” to be his most entertaining music video yet.

Another no budget video for the song “Night Riders” from “Fun with Dumb”.

It was directed by the homie Eric Heights. We shot this footage awhile back and just got around to putting it together. A big up and great thanks to the Eric who was able to create a great video with virtually no budget and an almost impossible guerrilla shoot.

JRA Previews New Single – “Never”

JRA’s got a preview up of an upcoming single he’s in the process of writing called “Never”. It’s just a short clip but I’m really liking what I’m hearing so far. The writing is intriguing and I think its a great theme to explore in song. This one is a slower number but if he continues the melancholy mood of the song carefully I think this will be a great single.

This song is pretty new and unfinished.
Wrote it a couple weeks ago.

It’s about being in love (again) & NEVER using the word NEVER unless its used in the right context. =P

Lyrics (though in progress) are after the jump.

The Nehemiah Band Share New Single & Will Collab with Jaeson Ma

Southern California based artists of the faith Jaeson Ma & The Nehemiah Band are set to perform together after a 1040 Movie screening this Saturday, the 20th.  Check out this little teaser they posted up of them rehearsing Jaeson’s single “Love”. I’m liking this full band arrangement they have of the song. You can catch them on the 20th at 6pm at New Song Irvine.

They also share a new single called ‘The Morning’ via footage from a rehearsal session. It’s sounds like a great song and another strong addition to their catalog.  I look forward to hearing a finalized studio version of the track.

Surrilla Interviewed by Dumbfoundead

In the latest installment of ‘The Homies’, dumb brings out Surrilla to drop a verse and then discuss a few topics, namely his recently dropped mixtape Simon Says Vol. 1. Surrilla’s always been known for his slightly unorthodox voice and flow but I’m feelin his acapella. There’s almost a spoken word like quality to it. If you ever wanted to put a face to a name, then here he is.
