Dumbfoundead Shares Snippet of New Untitled Song; Announces New Album Release Date

Dumb’s hard at work on his next album and has even set a release date of June 8th, 2010. He’s given us this short, minute long preview of a new track. It’s definitely a different direction for the underground MC, as he takes on a slight indie-electro-pop type of sound on this record. I really like how he’s experimenting with all these different sounds lately. The dude has got some versatility.

Here is snippet a new song from my upcoming album which is scheduled for June 8, 2010. Song is still untitled but I was sort of inspired by Jason Reitman’s “Up In the Air”

Time lapse by the homie Ryan Quan.

Drop him line and let him know DFD sent you

Legaci Offers ‘Ready For Love’ Acoustic Version for Free DL

As a gift to their fans, Legaci (currently touring as back up for Justin Bieber), are offering the acoustic version of their song ‘Ready for Love’ as a free DL. They’ve offered this before in the past but if you’re a newer fan you likely don’t have this track. It’s a great R&B jam and quite frankly, would you expect anything less than awesome from these guys? The only catch is you have to go through the ordering motions at the website although the final price is $0.00!

Grab it here.

WTF: J – In My Lifetime

Good evening and welcome to another edition of Weekly Thursday Freebie. We’ve got something interesting for your today, a lesser known project album from the Korean-American gone KPOP star, J. I’ve been a fan of her since the beginning of her career back in the 90′s and though she’s faded considerably from the limelight she still manages to drop a single or album here and there. A few years back she offered up an album entitled In My Lifetime and it was a departure from her usual material. I’ve been meaning to offer this one up for a while now although I do understand that not everyone is gonna be feeling this choice for two reasons. One, although most of the album in English, the last few songs are in Korean, so I imagine many of you could care less about those. Two, every song is about and related to her Christian faith. It was a very personal project for her, one that didn’t exactly take over the charts but I doubt that was the point. Anyway, with the rate music is released and forgotten in Korea I thought it’d be safe to offer it to you all who may be interested.

Personally I really liked this album. There were a couple tracks that were either corny or boring but overall it was a refreshing album and one I could relate to. I really enjoyed it when she went the acoustic/R&B route. It’s only 9 tracks but a couple of them feature Korean American rapper Jed, who used to be a part of the mildly successful group D-Bace… but I digress. You can DL the entire album, so I hope you enjoy!

Hopie Spitshard Drops “Trunk (The Remixes)” MV

We reported about it yesterday, and it’s officially here. Hopie just released the music video for her single ‘Trunk (The Remixes)’. The song’s beat bangs hard and the video is real crisp. It was cool when they switched up the location at the end to the skate park. For those of you that appreciate that northern cali brand of hip-hop, this one is definitely for you.

Krystle Cruz Needs Your Help to Make Her Debut Album

As more and more artists opt to go the indie route, whether by choice or force of circumstance, the need to become creative in how they raise funds to record and release an album. One of the emerging trends is to get the fans involved by having them pledge donations to contribute to the album making process and help bring to fruition what would otherwise be a stalled dream. Krystle is embarking on putting together her debut album and needs your help to do so. She’s using something called Kickstarter and explains how you can contribute below. Support the girl! We need more talented musicians doing big things out there, with or without a label.

Michelle Martinez Featured on The Bay Today

Bay Area singer Michelle Martinez was recently featured on a local cable channel show called The Bay Today. It’s set to air this weekend on KCSM Channel 17 for those of you in that area… of course that means nothing to the rest of us =). Thankfully she’s uploaded the short clip onto youtube for all of us to enjoy today. Fun fact about Michelle, she’s currently studying/working in broadcasting. Hopefully she’ll continue to transition to being more and more in front of the camera rather than behind it.

Cynthia Lin Interview w/ Steve Nguyen

NY native singer/songwriter Cynthia Lin sat down and chatter for a few minutes with Steve Nguyen to talk a little bit about why and how she does music. For those of you unfamiliar with the artist this is a decent introduction as you get to hear a little bit about things behind the music. You can find out more about Cynthia at her website.

D-Pryde x Traphik x Dumbfoundead x Dyme-A-Duzin x Prince EA x Ahmir Release ‘Forever’ Remix MV

A few months back we reported about a huge collab between D-Pryde, Traphik, Dumb, Dyme-A-Duzin, Prince EA & Ahmir where they remixed the hit song ‘Forever’ originally by Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Kanye, and Eminem. They’ve finally dropped the official MV to the track and it’s an interesting listen. In terms of scope and scale, the entire project is a sizable accomplishment bringing together a bunch of talented artists that, in ways, comes close to the original. The video however, lacks cohesiveness and reveals the scattered collaborated nature of the song that was hidden in just the audio. With a mixture of different video sources and no clear direction the MV is well edited by uneven and sporadic. Understandable given the circumstances but it definitely hinders the experience.

Still though, it’s an enjoyable watch and fits the Youtube medium well. I found it humorous how D-Pryde mimics Em’s scene in the original video. How’d you guys like it?

Ming & Ping Offer Their Cover of Joy Division’s “Transmission” as Free DL

The eccentric electro-pop duo and twin brothers, Ming & Ping, have offered up their cover of the Joy Division track ‘Transmission” as a free download for their fans. It’s exactly what you’d expect from them, trippy, surreal, and oddly intriguing. Of course not everyone will appreciate this style of music but it’s just one song and a quick download so it shouldn’t take too much time to decide to keep this in your music library or delete it. I wasn’t liking this nearly as much as their own single ‘Bridge & Tunnel’ but it was an interesting listen nonetheless.

You can DL the song Here.
