WTF: Nemo – Hidden Agenda

Here’s a blast from the past! It’s time for our Weekly Thursday Freebie again and this time we dug back over half a decade to find a little gem of a rock song from the now defunct band Nemo. It’s entitled Hidden Agenda and even had a music video that was released back in the good old days of 2004, pre-twitter, pre-iphone, pre-facebook. Imagine that. It went a little something like this:

I consider this band a bit of a group of trailblazers as they went on to compete at Kollaboration and had a small buzz going in the mid 2000′s. It’s a shame they are no longer active though I admit I don’t know a whole lot about the members or what they are up to now. If you find yourself rocking out to this one then you can find the dl link with a zip file of both the video (Low Quality, it’s all they had back in the day) and the mp3 after the break!

Worst Ever: Myspace Ads & Ramiele Malubay

In a huge SMH moment, some targeted ads have been running on Myspace with the typical “Chat with Asian Girls” spiel only this time the ad company in question used images of someone you may be familiar with. A photo of singer Ramiele Malubay, best known for run on American Idol a few years back, was used without her permission for this seedy online chat/dating service!

As you can expect, Ramiele is furious stating the following on twitter:

http://twitter.com/Joey21XL/status/11449253349 Now I am going to give whoever has power to remove this 24 hrs. Or else…

If the ad isn’t removed I hope Ms Malubay will take legal action against this shameless company. This reminds me of the time an escort service used a photo of actress Brenda Song in their ad in the paper. Idiots.

The fellas of Legaci have got a new clip up, but this time it’s just a short one of them covering Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee”. A full length version is promised soon but this is a great way to get us to want to hear more. The guys are busy touring with Justin Bieber and have also just announced that they will be appearing on Leno tonight! Whether in a studio, a living room, or a parking garage these dudes always sound impeccable.

Dumbfoundead x Esna Yoon Feature on New DJ Zo Single – “Vacation Song”

DJ Zo, who has worked with a number of Asian American musicians over the years (Dumbfoundead, Johnnyphlo, Lyricks, Manifest, etc…) has teamed up with Dumb again and added Esna to the mix. I really like the sound of the track though I thought Esna’s parts were a tad unpolished. Other than that it’s a pretty dope track and Zo doesn’t disappoint on the tables (as usual). Check out the little video put together with the song set to some scenes from what looks to be Cowboy Bebop. You can download the track for free here.

Crown J Interview w/ Blackvibes

Korean import southern rapper Crown J recently had his first American interview with Blackvibes. They talk a lot about the differences between the US and South Korean music industries, what he’s tryna accomplish in the states, and what to expect from his upcoming singles and music video. The audio quality is borderline terrible but it’s still decipherable.

In my opinion he makes a couple statements that gave off the impression that he’s more influential as a musician in Korea than he actually is but besides that it’s a pretty decent look into who is J.

Wong Fu Previews Secret Project Music Video

Joseph Vincent Sings New Original – “Random Thoughts”

Joseph Vincent has got a new original up and this one is called ‘Random Thoughts’. It’s an upbeat acoustic ditty and fairly catchy at that. The song  definitely has potential. If he goes into the studio and cleans it up I think it could be a real keeper. The melody is already starting to get stuck in my head. Only part I wasn’t really feeling was the abrupt ending.

Lyrics after the break.
