Y’all know who Jennifer Chung is by now. And I imagine a lot of you know she’s a college student at UC Irvine. Well the school certainly took notice of one of their more famous students and has featured her on their school website, profiling her and her music career in the context of holding down her educational life. I got so much respect for the girl, she did so much more with her college years than I ever did!
Blue Scholars, the Seattle based Hip-Hop group got to talk with AR on a LOT of different subjects, broken up into 3 separate clips. It’s not only informative on the group, but also of the entire music scene as a whole. You can tell the fellas have been grinding hard for a long time as they have extraordinary insight into how the business works and what they’ve done to get where they are. It’s pretty long, and had some pacing issues but I thought it was a dope interview overall.
That’s right. These talented Asian-American women of New York, singer Heather Park & Knewdles of Misnomer(s), are working on a track together! It looks like this is going to be on Heather’s album Stay, scheduled to be released soon (in May). I’m really looking forward to this collab. It’s awesome to see these ladies holding down their own!

Justin Nozuka’s continuing the media blitz with a new interview with FilmKim. This one’s super short so it shouldn’t take too long to get through. Read about his thoughts on the music industry, American Idol, and what it’s like to be a bonafide rockstar. This guy seriously seems to be years beyond his age. Wisdom is definitely a valuable trait for anyone in the music business.
Soul/R&B Songstress Laura Song is featured on a track by Hip-Hop artist K-Beta. Some of you may recognize Laura from Youtube, where she was also included in that huge mega collab of YT artists covering “We Are the World“. The song “Don’t Let Me Down” has been leaked by the artist and Laura’s soulful voice is a perfect match for this track. This is seriously a nice song. Props to both the artists involved!

BP & Odds is back again, getting ready to drop their new free EP Vacancy. They describe it as their homage to jazz music so if anything it should be a refreshing change of pace from the mainstream hip-hop sounds we here everywhere else. Look for it on their website in in less than a weeks time, May 4th. These guys seem to drop 3-4 releases everywhere so make sure to stay current and catch up on what they’ve been up to.
BP & ODDS brand new project “VACANCY” is set to drop Tuesday, May 4th as a free download through BPandODDS.com and theboomdocs.com. The EP is the boom bap novelists’ ode to Jazz music. The soundscape summons BP’s jazz stacks while each song is aptly titled after timeless jazz albums. VACANCY gives rise to the idea of being uninhibited while opening doors to new listeners.
J. Reyez is back with another Taeyang remix, once again featuring Tommy of IBU along with Pat Lam of SoRealCru. They dropped a video which is simple but fits the song well, and the dancing from Pat of SRC was a nice touch. I thought overall, this was a much stronger cover than his ‘Wedding Dress’ remix, which I wasn’t really feeling. This one seems to be a more natural fit for the artists. Is it better than the original? No, but it’s still a decent flip on it.

Tommy C and I got together to perform Wedding Dress for the first time last weekend in Toronto and we were gonna just put this song out with a youtube style video but figured we might as well shoot a nice quick promo video for it! Pat Lam from SoRealCru was also with us so he did a quick freestyle nice quick promo video for it!
