JL Releases New Mixtape & MV Featuring L. Scatterbrain x Lyraflip x Lyricks x Manifest x Dumbfoundead

You’ve read about it here for months but the time has finally arrived. Guaranteed Raw, the debut mixtape for Virginia MC JL is now available. To mark the release real proper he’s also dropped an MV for one of the posse tracks entitled LAVA. You clever folk probably picked up that it stands for LA to VA… Los Angeles to Virginia. The video was directed by Lyricks and features a TON of footage. It’s straight hip-hop, no sugar coating… and it’s refreshing.

You can find the full tracklist after the break but make sure to pick up a copy and support some raw hip-hop. Besides those mentioned in LAVA, the mixtape features other talented artists such as Sickboi, Decipher and J-Smaals.

Bambu Interviews w/ Davey D

Bambu isn’t your typical Hip-Hop artist. He speaks about real people, real situations, and real issues. In this interview with Davey D he continues to expand upon the themes he touches upon his music and explains the rationale behind his opinions and thoughts. Some of his views are somewhat polarizing but I appreciate how candid and well articulated he is. Much respect.

We caught up with Bambu at SxSw and he spoke to us about the Filipinos in Hip Hop and gang Life in LA. he noted that he doesn’t say Gang Life is wrong.. He says it needs to be redirected and folks need to use their talents and intelligence to really owning their blocks

We caught up w/ Bambu who was on hand at Delores park for the Eco-Fest 2010. He broke down the inspiration and the meaning behind the song ‘The Queen is Dead’. He talked to us about brothers using flowery words like ‘Queen’ and ‘Sista’ and not really meaning it. It called such cats ‘Macktavist’

Charice Debuts at #8 on the Billboard Charts

A week out from her debut it’s been determined that Charice has had her album emerge in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. That’s a huge accomplishment for the pint-sized singer and we can only hope she carries the momentum forward. It’s not every day we see individuals with faces like ours making such a big sales impact so make sure to continue supporting the girl if you like her music! We shall see tomorrow if she was able to continue these strong figures into her second week.

Seriously Interviews w/ AAtheory & Current TV

The California band Seriously has a couple more interviews out, where they sat down with AAtheory (again) and Current TV. The AAtheory segment was a lot goofier and fun in in nature where they had a mock game show and answered questions from the fans along with showing off some weird talents. The Current TV feature is a bit more traditional in format and content, talking about their background, their music, and how it all comes together. For any of you Serious fans there’s a plethora of material here so enjoy!

Sam Hart x afterschoolspecial Remix ‘Airplanes’

This song just won’t fade away! Here’s another remix/cover of the B.o.B. hit “Airplanes”. afterschoolspecial is joined by Sam Hart for an impromptu collab that they filmed before a show in Iowa. The female vocal and Sam sound pretty decent together despite their different singing styles. Dan aka Dan lays down the raps and all in all it’s a fairly decent acoustic take on the song.

But Youtubers… please cover another track!

David Choi Interview w/ MBC Radio

David Choi just got back from his Korean tour but he’s already put up some footage from an interview he had over there with MBC Radio. Our sister site Bump This! has all the details:

Singer David Choi has been back in Korea to not only visit his motherland and family but to also stepped in MBC Radio for an interview!

David got to talk about his music, influences, and also respond in a bit Korean for fans and avid listeners of the show. He also notes that he figured out that he got his music talent from his grandmother the last time he came to Korea. The self-cam of the interview is kind of short, but very interesting to watch!

FM Stars in Short by Arowana Films

I’m a little late on this one but the Far East Movement have collaborated once again with one of their earliest video partners, Arowana Films, for a short that was entered into a film contest by YOMYOMF. It’s entitled Far East Futura and features some cool CGI effects along with some trademark FM tunes. It’s a pretty neat watch and I’m glad to see FM & Arowana have remained connected over the years.

This project was done in collaboration with youoffendmeyouoffendmyfamily.com and FAR EAST MOVEMENT for their contest “Interpretations”. go to interpretationsfilm.com for more information.

Lil Crazed x Erin Paula Remix “Dilemma”

Wow, this is a blast from the past. Let’s take it back 8 years, when I was in college there was a song that was popular by Nelly and then Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. Flash forward to today and two prominent youtube faces have decided to join forces and remix this throwback hit. Lil Crazed enlisted the help of Erin Paula for this track and it ain’t half bad. It’s just as poppy and light as the original but that’s not a bad thing. You can DL it for free here.

Lyrics after the jump.

Heather Park Interview w/ ChannelAPA

The NY based crooner and soul R&B songstress Heather Park got to sit down and talk with ChannelAPA. They talk about her start in music, placement in the movie West 32nd (great film btw), and her new song and upcoming album set to drop very soon. Heather’s been doing this for a while now and I’m really glad to see she’s still active and doing her thing. She may not have the visibility of a lot of the singers on Youtube now but she’s got a unique voice and talent that few can match.
