Gabe Bondoc Announces Debut Album Release Date

Most of you know Gabe Bondoc as the guy on youtube that looks like Wolverine but sounds like John Mayer. Well the youtube sensation is gearing up to release his first full length feature release called The Summertime LP. And wouldn’t you know it, the timing is perfect as it’s set to drop on June 11th, 2011. It looks like it’s gonna have a dozen tracks and is available for pre-order NOW. The guy can definitely sing and I’m excited to hear what he can do with a full album.

On June 11, 2010, guitarist, singer and songwriter Gabe Bondoc will release his first full length album!

Inspired by the natural emotional tides, Gabe’s music spotlights the heart as it passes through different phases.

“My goal has always been to put music to what people are already thinking,” Gabe says. “I think that, ultimately, we all want to relate to one another. I want to know that I’m not alone in my joy, nor my strife. Because, come on.. doesn’t it feel good when someone excitedly agrees with you and screams ‘I know, right?!’”

Rino Nakasone Razalan Joins the PCD

You may not be consciously familiar with Rino Nakasone Razalan but there’s very little doubt that you’ve seen her work in some shape or form. The Japanese-American rose through the ranks as one of Gwen Stafani’s Harajuku Girls and more recently gained a lot of popularity as a member of the Season 3 ABDC runner up group, Beat Freaks. She’s also choreographed for a lot of different music acts including a number of KPOP artists and now she has another big name to place on her resume… a member of the Pop/R&B performance troupe, the Pussycat Dolls. She joins lead singer Nicole as another Asian addition to the group and I’m sure her dancing prowess will be utilized frequently. We at a-Tunes wish her the best with her new venture and a huge congrats.

Magnetic North x Taiyo Na Release Album Sampler by DJ Boo

We mentioned Magnetic North and Taiyo Na had teamed up for a new album entitled Home:Word set to drop on June 8th but to whet our appetites for new music they’ve also decided to release a sampler to give us a taste of what’s to come. It was mixed by DJ Boo and I can’t lie, it all sounds pretty strong so far. I didn’t know what to expect but now that I do I can’t wait for this to be released!

If ya’ll are anything like us you have a hard time choosing appetizers at a restaurant…. there’s just so much fatty deliciousness to partake in… how to pick just one?  Well….thank whatever genius invented the SAMPLER. Why choose when you can have a little bit of everything?  That’s what chef DJ Boo did for us w/ the album…cutting and slicing thick morsels of songs to serve to you on a hot platter.

Geo (of Blue Scholars) Interview w/ Soompi

Soompi.com had the opportunity to talk with Geo, one half of the Hip-Hop duo Blue Scholars. Geo aka Prometheus Brown is the MC portion of the group and discusses his notoriety, the Seattle music scene, working with Bambu on ‘Slow Down’, Filipinos in the arts, and a whole lot more. Geo’s an intelligent dude and I appreciate his well thought out responses.

Van Ness Wu Interviews w/ ChannelAPA & Soompi

Van Ness Wu, an Asian American pop star who has made waves all over Asia as a dancer, singer, actor, and more had recently interviewed with both ChannelAPA & Soompi. A number of topics were covered by both interviews but they are a few unique subjects to each. I especially enjoyed his candid commentary on his faith in the Soompi clip.

J. Reyez Releases MV for ‘This Pain’

It’s only been a few days since J dropped his MV for ‘Wedding Dress‘ but he’s back with another one for the song titled ‘This Pain”. He gets personal on this one, taking the opportunity to vent and let things off his chest. I think this is one of his stronger drops and the video contains footage from the past and present, giving the viewer a good mix of what J has experience thus far in his career.

DL it for free HERE.

This is a song I produced myself based on what I’ve experienced so far being a growing artist in this music game for the past few years. I felt the need to vent on a song and express my feelings about the negative side of being an artist so please don’t take any offense. This video shows clips from 2006 til the present. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Lil Crazed x Jargon x Dee x Phlip x Sunny P x Micah B Release “K.i.D. Cypher Round 2″

Lil Crazed has started a monthly series called the “K.i.D. Cypher” where he gets a bunch of people from his crew to spit some verses and invites a special guest or two each time. Already in it’s second month (we missed out on the first one), this one has Crazed opening it up with Jargon, Dee, Phlip, Sunny P and Micah B following. As with the majority of posse cuts, some of these artists are definitely more talented than others. This time around the better verses seemed to bookend the track with the more generic ones towards the middle. I’m loving the concept of the idea but would be even more excited to see some of these dudes step their game up or for a line up of only top notch MC’s. But I guess that’s the dilemma of any crew… just look at Young Money.

You can DL the track here.

Triangle Offense Releases Performance Footage from Mixtape Party

The Triangle Offense recently had a mixtape release party to celebrate their latest body of work The Courting. The fellas broke it down with a good number of songs from the tape and it’s too bad we couldn’t be there to witness it live. These fellas got peoples, listen to the crowd sing along to TGIF. Gotta love how crisp DSLR video is. And thank god for decent volume levels that usually ruin most party performance footage. It’s broken up into two halves.

Tommy C of IBU Remixes “Airplanes”

OK, I know what you’re thinking… ANOTHER cover/remix of Airplanes? Just like “Billionaire” this is definitely one of the more covered songs out there on Youtube at the moment. But this one stands out. It’s done by Tommy C of the Chicago based R&B group IBU. The subject matter gets very personal as it touches upon the passing of his Father and how his family dealt/coped with the unfortunate event.

Now frankly I have two very polarizing opinions about this song. Purely from a technical standpoint, I wasn’t crazy about it. Not because Tommy doesn’t sing it well, he does, but more so because the arrangement and phrasing of the lyrics were a bit awkward at times and this is actually a common trend I find among much of Tommy’s work. Well sung but roughly written. That being said, as a piece of music and as an example of human expression, it’s a much stronger song. The realism and story behind the song is what makes it relevant and in that sense appreciable. I’m sorry for Tommy’s loss but am encouraged by the sharing of his experience.

Anyway, with all that aside it’s available as a free DL. Props to Tommy for being vulnerable as an artist.
