Petey-O Releases “Going Away” MV Featuring Monica and JL

Producer/MC Petey-O has dropped a new single featuring Monica on the hook and JL on the closer verse. Petey-O has got that West Coast type of flow that matches the track well but quite it does’t fully come alive until JL lays down his part, he was definitely the highlight of the track. This one’s aight.

Video directed by Lyricks.

FM Interview w/ Complex Magazine

The Far East Movement has got a new interview out with Complex Magazine. It’s in two parts but they cover a lot of ground and topics that at least I have personally been wondering. Of course the requisite subjects of their beginnings come up but the interview moves on to their struggle to get where they are at now, working on their major label debut with artists such as Snoop, Bruno, Sean Kingston, etc, transitioning to their electronic influenced style of hip-hop and away from heavy lyricism, and what other AA artists have influenced them since day one. It’s a great interview and a definite recommended read.

Check out part one here and part two here.

Roscoe Umali Featured on “On My Hype” by Go Gettas

Roscoe Umali is a man that lives and dies by the West and has linked up with another left coast group – the Go Gettas. They have a new music video out for the single “On My Hype” featuring Roscoe on the opening verse. I’m not crazy about this flavor of hip-hop, I guess I’m just not California enough but the video quality is super crisp. Mr. Umali does his thing and has the best verse (in my opinion). What do you guys think?

Inspire Presents Performance of LAVA by L. Scatter x Lyraflip x Lyricks x Mani x JL x DFD x DJ Zo

You’ve seen the MV for this mega posse cut, but now you get to see L. Scatterbrain x Lyraflip x Lyricks x Manifest x JL x Dumbfoundead & DJ Zo all perform “LAVA” live. It’s crazy to see so many of our talented MC’s on stage at one time on the same track. Watch it through till the end where DFD forgets his verse but freestyles the whole thing without missing a beat. That’s raw.

Natalise Shares Performance of “See Me”

Natalise is a little bit of a polarizing artist for me, but I genuinely enjoyed this performance clip of her at a show singing the song “See Me”. It was just her and the keyboard and she sang the song beautifully and movingly.  It’s actually a drastic change from her material that I heard a few years back. This style of music really suits her voice and I was glad to hear her explore the genre.

afterschoolspecial x Krystle Cruz Remix “Love the Way You Lie”

San Diego-ians afterschoolspecial and Krystle Cruz decided to mix their styles of rock/rap and pop and do a cover/remix of the Eminem x Rihanna track “Love the Way You Lie”. This track seems to be the hot song to cover of the moment but they put their own live instrumentation spin on it. It’s a little rough around the edges but I think if they had the chance to rehearse this a little bit, it could be a show staple if they were to perform together in the future.

We had the opportunity to work with another talented San Diego Native Ms. Krystle Cruz (youtube.com/krystlecruz). Doin our take on Eminem + Rihanna’s LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE. Special thanks to Mr. Pj Luis for the BeatBoxin + VERY BIG Thanks to Will Stockwell for shooting/editing the video (www.willstockwell.com)- GET AT HIM

We wanted to do something to help promote Krystle’s CD release. She’s about to drop her Debut CD JULY 27. Be sure to check out her music and subscribe to her channel.

Be sure to check out the afterschoolspecial channel for more covers/Vlogs/our original tracks. Comment/Subscribe/Share Appreciate the support ya’ll!

Stay til the end of the video for an impromptu jam session
