Snapshot: When Clara Chung Won Kollaboration 10

Clara Chung Reacting to Her Win @ Kollab 10

Back in March of this year, Clara Chung won the 10th installment of Kollaboration. This picture, courtesy of Erich Chen Photography, captures her reaction to hearing that she won. The girl couldn’t even stand! And to think this was only one of the many awesome milestones she has accomplished this year.

Lookin’ Back: Gerry Woo – “How Long”

Although it’s rare to hear about an Asian or Asian American penetrating the Billboard charts with any sort of mainstream success, the Wonder Girls, the Far East Movement or even Jin were definitely not the first ones to do it. In fact, even in 1987, a young Filipino kid by the name of Gerry Woo was on the airwaves with a number of singles after winning Star Search and landing a record deal. His career wasn’t exactly long lived as he quickly faded away before re-appearing as Harlemm Lee in 2K3 and winning the reality TV competition Fame on NBC, only to vanish just as quickly.

Regardless, it’s folks like Gerry that helped lay some of the ground work yesterday for the artists of today. Mr. Woo – we thank you. You can watch his music video for “How Long” below, in all it’s 80′s glory.

You can read a little more about him over at AARisings.

Sam Hart Sings New Original – “We Are Spoons”

Sam Hart has got a new original out called “We are Spoons” but in my opinion it is not greater than the sum of it’s parts. The song is uniquely written, well arranged, makes use of creative instrumentation but at the end of the day this one was just plain boring for me. Sam describes it as “a little happy love song” but I don’t think the happiness really came across. It was all rather flat for me. What do you all think?

JVoqalz Shares Original – “One Night”

JVoqalz, whom most of you probably know from “Summer Day in the Bay” continues his music grind and has uploaded a new track to youtube titled “One Night”. It’s a classic style R&B track that fits his voice well. The production is on the simple side but I’m really digging the keyboard instrumentation. It’s a simple track but pretty well done. Props to Mr. JVoqalz.
