Snapshot: Manifest x As One

As One & Manifest

NoVa’s Manifest may be over seas in Korea now, but that doesn’t mean he’s let off his grind one bit. He had the opportunity to meet the lovely and talented KPOP duo As One. They are some of the more veteran Korean Americans in the KPOP market, releasing music since the 90′s. Look how happy Mani looks posing with them! I can’t blame the guy, too be quite honest I’m kinda jealous. This picture was taken after his interview with the duo on their radio show. It’s awesome to see The Beautiful Cycle going international!

My only question is, what’s a blogger/musician like myself gotta do to meet As One too?

WTF: Trus Real – Local Listings: The Mixtape

Trus Real

For this installment of Weekly Thursday Freebie we bring you a new mixtape release by Trus Real. Last weekend I had the awesome privilege of seeing/judging a ton of local talent perform at Kollaboration DC. Trus Real was one of the artists that really stood out to me, peforming an anthem like song dedicated to the DMV appropriately called “Hometown”. This inspired and enthusiastic performance earned him 3rd place honors and now you can hear for yourself why that is. The song is included on this free mixtape entitled Local Listings, packed full of 23 tracks. I’ve yet to hear all of it but what I’ve peeped so far is pretty strong. I recommend you check this release out too.

Jin Interviews w/ Soompi

Soompi has got a great new interview out with international Hip-Hop star Jin. They go into his life after finding God, his experiences overseas, blossoming career and thoughts on the expanding Hip-Hop culture in China. I found it to be an enjoyable read and it really gives you a good idea of Jin’s mentality at the moment and what he aims to accomplish. You can check the interview in full after the break or at Soompi.

How You Can Help @AJRelease His Debut Album

Mr. AJ Rafael is known to hundreds of thousands of fan, and has performed all over the world, with youtube videos under his belt racking up millions of hits. He’s released an EP, singles, and even a great music video but he has yet to drop a full-length feature album. It looks like he wants to rectify that as he gears up to drop his debut effort. He’s asking for your help by utilizing the same fundraiser pledge model that many of his contemporaries have used before. Head on over to his Kickstarter to see how you can help bring this project to fruition.

Melissa Polinar Sings “Honestly”

I’ve always been a big fan of Melissa’s soulful voice, and now more so than ever after hearing her single “Honestly”.  I’ll admit I’m a bit of a sucker for music of the laid back acoustic variety but it’s hard to justifiably dislike this song. She reportedly has an EP in the works and I can’t wait till it drops. You can purchase the track here.

Once upon a time (more than 2 years ago!), I posted a clip of this song unfinished. Many of you have demanded for a complete version but I totally put it in the back burner for a long time. haha! :) I really don’t know why it took me this long. :)

DJ Descry Remixes Clara Chung’s “Wake Up in Neverland”

Clara Chung may have just released her album The Art in My Heart, but DJ Descry of TNB has already put up a sick remix of one of the tracks! He’s taken the song “Wake Up in Neverland” featuring vocals by Clara Chung and Feats in Inches and mixed in his own unique instrumental, putting a great spin on it with an infectious beat.

For music geeks: this remix features new drums, synth lines (Cypher/FXpansion Synth Squad), bassline (Moog Little Phatty), vocoder (SONiVOX Vocalizer), glitches and UAD plug-ins (Neve1073/Manley Massive Passive).

You can grab the track for 75 pennies, or 15 quarters, or 7 and a half dimes, or 3 quarters. But don’t take my word for it, listen to it first below and tell me it’s not worth it.

The Phil Good Band Releases New Single – “Again” [Free DL]

In another a-Tunes exclusive, the Phil Good Band has released a new track entitled “Again”. This one was given the proper mixing treatment and I gotta say it turned out great. These fellas are really starting to find their strong point by mixing pop rock with Phil’s breezy R&B vocals. They certainly had a lot of acclaim after their performance at Kollaboration DC. I think you’ll dig this song too so don’t sleep on it. DL “Again” here for free.

Misnomer(s) Release American I(s) Album

The end of the month is upon us and that means the new album, American I(s) by Misnomer(s) has finally dropped. The album is quite full, coming in at a healthy 17 tracks which you can purchase in either digital or physical formats. If you wanna sample before you buy you can do so via the widget below. These sisters have carved out an interesting niche for themselves in an otherwise crowded market, so it’d be interesting to hear how this album turned out.

FM Interviews w/ MYX TV

Just as the Far East Movement has hit #1 on the iTunes charts, they continue to press forward with the promotional activities, laying the groundwork for what will hopefully be an explosive release of their major label debut, Free Wired. Check out this interview they had with MYX TV. There is some information here that you’ve probably heard before but a few new perspectives as well.

Michelle Martinez Interviews w/ Dfined

Bay area singer Michelle Martinez has a new interview out with Dfined Magazine. You can find out about some of her favorite moments throughout her career, what inspires her and her outlook in being an Asian-American in an already tough industry to break into. I got a kick out of how diplomatically she answered equally enjoying singing the anthem for both the Dodgers and the Giants. Read on after the break or over at Dfined.
