Check out this dope acoustic remix of Kanye West’s “Power”. They completely flipped it and even though I love the original I think this rendition is very strong as well. It’s a little on the short side and the whole band isn’t present though it’s still a pretty refreshing listen. Wouldn’t mind if they layed it down in the studio too.

This certainly isn’t the first time music has caused controversy in a class room, but this particular incident happens to involve the work of one of our favorite Hip-Hop groups – Blue Scholars. It looks like a HS teacher in Spokane, Washington allegedly handed out lyrics to one of Blue’s songs called “Commencement Day” off their Long March EP. The song lyrics in question aren’t grossly inappropriate but rather serve as a commentary on the current state of this nation’s education system. Sure there’s some strong language but nothing your average public school student isn’t exposed to every day.
A Shadle Park High School teacher has been placed on leave for allegedly handing out the lyrics to a song by the hip hop group Blue Scholars on the first day of school.
Spokane school spokeswoman Terren Roloff said the district is investigating the allegation. She said it was too early to say if the teacher will be punished.
Roloff did not have details about the song. But the members of the Seattle duo Blue Scholars say the song was called “Commencement Day.”
At this time there are few details as to the specific violation or reason the teacher was suspended for but it all makes for interesting discussion nonetheless. Listen to the song below.
Who would ever thing the Wall Street Journal would do a feature on Jin the emcee? Well it’s happened and they cover what most fans already knew, from his beginnings in Miami to his explosive start in NY & BET and subsequent failed stint with Ruff Ryders to his new fame in Hong Kong and recent turn to the Christian faith. If none of this sounds familiar to you then you should def check out the article since it’ll give you a pretty good summary of Jin’s career. Either way, it’s cool to see the WSJ recognizing the still influential talent. Read it after the break or over at WSJ.
The single has already spread like wildfire and quickly become a huge pop favorite, and now the video finally drops. Bruno Mars debuted his new MV for “Just the Way You Are” and it does a pretty good job of beaing creative without being as sappy as it could have been. All you younger readers may be confused by the use of a casette tape but once upon a time that was how old folks like me listened to our music. His new album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, is also available for pre-order.
It’s exactly as the headline indicates. David Choi embraces his inner Korea and goes all out musically for this fun but ridiculous song and video dedicated to Starcraft 2. It really is kind of bizarre but I’m sure a lot of you will dig it. To be 100% honest I haven’t gotten into SC2 yet being I’m somewhat of a budget gamer… meaning I’ll prob play it in 2 years when it’s dropped under 20 bucks but that’s not really important haha. Oh and it’s a free DL too.

Before Mr. Mani leaves for Korea he made sure to drop a new single entitled “Hourglass”. This track features another NoVa artist, C-Note. This song would have fit perfectly on Manifest’s last mixtape Open Bars. It’s got a mellow instrumental and introspective rhymes, a flavor of Hip-Hop I can almost always appreciate. This isn’t the type of track that will blow you away instantly, rather you gotta let marinate a little bit to fully appreciate.
