Here it is! “Rocketeer” is arguably one of the most popular singles off FM’s major label debut album Free Wired and I can’t help but to agree – it really is a strong single. That’s why I was excited to hear that it was going to be the follow up single to “Like a G6” as I actually find it to be a much more enjoyable song anyways. So to properly push the new single, FM did a proper music video featuring guest vocalist Ryan Tedder of One Republic fame. It’s a pretty dope release all the way around. The end kind of reminds me of the film Radio Flyer, if anyone remembers that one. Glad to see this single get the proper video support!

J. Moy & Company Release the “On My Way” Remix MV
Towards the end of the summer J. Moy dropped a single called “On My Way” which was from his Once Upon a Time in China EP. Tonight he’s released the official music video, but it’s for the remix instead. The new version features a completely different beat and style and has Set 2 and Richie Sosa as guest MC’s. Video quality is clean but I wasn’t a fan of the MV style and imagery (though it is somewhat fitting for Halloween). I actually liked the original song much better and wished they re-did the MV for that version instead. Either way the track itself is a decent listen but I’ll pass on the video.
Decipher x Manifest x Lyricks x JL Drop “Soju Life” [Free DL]
This joint was made strictly for fun and the love of alcohol. We took Neyo’s Champagne Life and put a Korean twist to it. This is our homage to the nectar of the Korean God’s, soju. The intro and hook are supposed to be us just chilling at the Korean BBQ spot and getting our soju shots on, getting loud, and having fun. We brought Muzo and Beautiful Cycle together on this one. Something we like to call The Muzical Cycle. I introduce the track, Mani runs up right after me, Lyricks comes in with some heat, then JL anchors the track with something heavy. We wrote and recorded all of this within an hour at RePercussion studio’s in Philly, shout out to Andy Ha! It ain’t all that serious, just something we had fun making so we hope yall have fun listening!
Legaci Interviews w/ Nicki Sun
Two members of the R&B group Legaci, Chris & Del, got to chat with Nicki Sun. They share a little bit about their experiences touring, some of their favorite cities, how they got to link up with Justin Bieber, their upcoming solo work and more. It’s just too bad all the members of the group weren’t present to chime in as well. It’s great to hear from the guys!
Showdown: Michelle Martinez vs Kaile Goh
It’s been a couple months since our last showdown, but we return with an interesting match up. There’s a very good chance that you’ve heard Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”; it’s almost impossible to avoid. Well we have two very different artists both laying down an all acoustic version of the pop tune, but on very separate ends of the spectrum. Pop/R&B singer Michelle Martinez decides to flip the song entirely, slowing it down and singing to a ballad piano track. Young newcomer Kaile Goh teams up with Ken Belcher for an acoustic rock remix, keeping it upbeat but putting more of an edge on the song. Both are great renditions, but is there one that stood out more to you?
Michelle Martinez
Kaile Goh
Personally, I thought Meesh’s version was much prettier, but there’s something about Kaile’s rougher vocals that made the song stand out. It’s a tough choice but in the end I may have to go with MM as my favorite here. It’s close though.
Clara Chung Interviews w/ OC Register

The increasingly popular Clara Chung was spotlighted by the OC Register in an in depth feature article with interviews not only with Clara and her crew, but other peer musicians as well. Since 2009 her star has risen quickly and they talk a lot about her career to date while keeping it context with the growing Asian-American presence in online media. It’s a great read, don’t skip this one folks. Check the performance below and you can catch the interview after the break or over at the OC Register.
Just Cause: Nigahiga x Wongfu x Jay Park – Bromance
Ryan Nigahiga has a new short out where he teams up with Wong Fu and asian super star Jay Park. They get into the potentially awkward subject of bromance. The whole thing is stupid, silly, and entertaining… it’s great =). I think it’s awesome to see Jay connect with other Asian-American media personalities, even those outside the music realm. BROMANCE.
Ramiele Malubay Releases New Single – “Kaya”

Singer Ramiele Malubay has dropped her first new single in quite some time and it’s called “Kaya”. Now what sets this apart is the fact that it’s written and sung in Tagalog. This means I don’t understand a word of it but she sounds great on it. I should point out that it seems geared to a slightly different demographic as she’s gone for a more adult contemporary sound on this single. You can purchase it for download at her bigcartel page for a buck 29. Listen to the preview below.
454 Drops the “Rock, Rock, Rock” MV
If you picked up a copy of 454′s As Real As it Gets, you may have heard a party track called “Rock, Rock, Rock” that sounded a lot more like FM than most of 454′s other work. It’s a electro influenced song with heavy bass, fast tempo, and catchy hook. Well the MV for the song has dropped tonight and the comparison’s to FM are all the more apparent. The video seems pretty heavily inspired by the one for “Like a G6″, but has it’s own flavor. It’s like a little less glamorous but more realistic version of FM’s video. The end is pretty funny though.
4Play Ladies Share a “Dirty Little Secret”
I’ve never heard of 4Play Ladies, but the SF Bay area Pop/R&B quartet seems to have a lot of support from other musicians. The girls have just dropped a new single called “Dirty Little Secret”. It’s a high energy track that resembles Lady GaGa. It had a gradual appeal for me, where I ended up liking it more by the end than I thought I would at the start. As time goes on, it’ll be interesting to hear more material from them. The song is catchy but a tad generic; I’d like to hear what they can do with fresher production. You can listen to the song below and buy it on iTunes.
