Although neither from nor currently living in Harlem, HW has profiled singer Paul Kim and his music in an interview detailing the path his career his taken, his single “Hero” and upcoming album, life in California, being a soul artist and a lot more. A good read for those of you unfamiliar with the former AI contestant. You can read the interview in full after the break or over at HW.

Lil Crazed x Megan Lee x Vudoo Soul x Jason Yang x Jason Chen Cover “Hey Soul Sister” [Free DL]

Hold on, it looks like we’re not done yet with the “Hey Soul Sister” covers. While I’m a little bit tired of this song this clip is an exception. We got Lil Crazed rapping, Megan Lee singing and strumming the guitar, Vudoo & Jason Chen also on vocals and Jason Yang doing his thing on violin over in Mississippi. It’s a fun little live performance and a good acoustic rendition overall. It’s also available as a free DL!

Esna Yoon Shares New Original – “Uneasy”

It’s always good to hear new music from Esna, and today she’s posted up a clip of her singing “Uneasy”. What makes this clip especially interesting to me is that she’s rocking the guitar instead of the piano we usually see in her videos. As a result this song has a bit of folksy vibe to it. There are definitely some rough edges to smooth out here and there but I like the overall sound. I’d be interested to see what this would sound like if it were tracked properly in the studio.

Jin x Van Ness Wu x Jaeson Ma to Work on Track Inspired by Jeremy Lin

Artists Jin, Van Ness Wu, and Jaeson Ma are reportedly in the works to release a track inspired by Warriors basketball player Jeremy Lin. It’s been known that the three are close friends that share a lot in terms of faith, friendship and art and it’ll be interesting to see it all come together in the form of a song. You can read the announcement, taken straight from Jin’s own blog.

I was totally inspired by this interview I read online where he shares his passion for basketball, his ever growing faith and pending career in the NBA (at the time of the interview, he was not signed on to play with the Warriors yet).

As I read and learned more about him, I felt inspired and my creative juices just started flowing. Usually when this happens, some sort of music productivity is inevitable.

I emailed my manager Carl and told him about my plans to do a track inspired by Jeremy Lin.

He replies and tells me that he actually just met him and he expressed that he’s been a follower of my music for years now. I was honored and humbled to hear about this.

There are no coincidences in this world.

I’m working on the track with two of my good SOL brothers, Vanness Wu and Jaeson Ma. It is tentatively titled “Warriors”. The name couldn’t be more fitting.

Melissa Polinar Asks For Your Help to Release New EP

Melissa Polinar is hard at work on a new EP, and as the trend continues to grow she also has started up a kickstarter account. Any pledge of $10 or more will get you a free autographed copy of the CD when it comes out but any ammount helps. You can check out how to contribute by visiting her kickstarter page. Her goal is fairly modest, seeking to raise $2500 over the course of the next month.

Lyrics Born Drops the “Lies x 3″ MV

This just may one of the slickest stylized MV production this year. Lyrics Born makes his video comeback for the single “Lies x 3“. It’s done in the style of 70′s Japanese exploitation film, detailing a girl creepin behind her man’s back. This must of been one hell of a video to edit in post production but it makes creative use of a limited set. Gotta love the resourcefulness and creativity. Other artists take note! The single is off his upcoming album As U Were set to drop next week.
