Back in August, musician Tony T Nguyen hosted an event featuring a number of very talented singer/songwriters including the ladies you see above. This picture was taken at the event and I forgot who tweeted it but regardless it’s a fun pic that captures four incredibly talented women doing their thing in music. From left to right you have Giana Nguyen, Connie Lim, Sue Jin, and Kristine Sa.
NY based sister Hip-Hop duo Misnomer(s) has always been a group that caught my interest, specifically because they buck so many trends that it’s hard to even keep track. But I was able to learn a little more about them through this interview w/ The Mad Bloggers. It provides a candid glimpse of the dynamic they share not only as band members, but as friends, and most of all sisters… and everything that comes with the territory. Well the title certainly fits. MYX TV has put together a concert featuring a ton of Youtube artists including Andrew Garcia, Erika David, Michelle Martinez, JR Aquino, Lil Crazed, Summer Breeze, Joey Diamond and Traphik. That’s a ton of artists at one event. It’s scheduled to go down on Thursday, November 18th at UC Davis. You can find out more information and how to purchase tickets at the official event website.
In more album release news, frequent collaborators Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz have linked up again, this time for a full album they call Generation ILL. It isn’t too long, clocking in at 10 tracks, with several of them being bonus, but if the rest of the album turns out anything like the title track, it should be a strong release. One thing I always admire about DF/Hydro drops is the production, they always got some nice beats. The album has vocal features from Melissa Polinar, Rocky Rivera, Bambu and more. We’re a little late to announce this but Cynthia Lin has got a new album out entitled Microscope. It’s a nine track release and serves as her 3rd full-length. She’s been kind of quiet on the media front but know we know why. You can read her description of the work below. From what I’ve heard, it’s a very soothing, mellow collection of songs.
though I wouldn’t call this a thematic album, the songs revolve around escapism, longing, hope, the truth of love, nostalgia, and ultimately self-discovery. please enjoy these songs, and share them far and wide.

Mr. Ock returns with another new original from his weekly Monday evening studio session series. He chooses to mix in both song and rap in a soft hip-hop song that I kinda dig. More than anything I’m loving his choice of keyboard sounds though the whole thing has an old school kpop kind of vibe to it. It’s a great message though. DL it for free here.

It’s finally here. LB’s latest album, As U Were, featuring the single “Lies x 3″ has officially dropped. It’s packed full of 17 tracks with a lot of features including his wife Joyo Velarde. One thing I’ve noticed is that Born likes to switch up the sound on every album and it seems like this is still the case. He never stops trying to expand as an artist and I can respect that. This is his first official album release since 2008′s Everywhere At Once.
