Cynthia Lin Releases New LP – Microscope

We’re a little late to announce this but Cynthia Lin has got a new album out entitled Microscope. It’s a nine track release and serves as her 3rd full-length. She’s been kind of quiet on the media front but know we know why. You can read her description of the work below. From what I’ve heard, it’s a very soothing, mellow collection of songs.

though I wouldn’t call this a thematic album, the songs revolve around escapism, longing, hope, the truth of love, nostalgia, and ultimately self-discovery. please enjoy these songs, and share them far and wide.

You can purchase and stream the album in it’s entirety via the widget below!

Sam Ock Shares New Original – “Rollercoaster” [Free DL]

Mr. Ock returns with another new original from his weekly Monday evening studio session series. He chooses to mix in both song and rap in a soft hip-hop song that I kinda dig. More than anything I’m loving his choice of keyboard sounds though the whole thing has an old school kpop kind of vibe to it. It’s a great message though. DL it for free here.

You can find the lyrics after the break.

Lyrics Born Releases the As U Were Album

It’s finally here. LB’s latest album, As U Were, featuring the single “Lies x 3″ has officially dropped. It’s packed full of 17 tracks with a lot of features including his wife Joyo Velarde. One thing I’ve noticed is that Born likes to switch up the sound on every album and it seems like this is still the case. He never stops trying to expand as an artist and I can respect that. This is his first official album release since 2008′s Everywhere At Once.

Passport: John Park Places 2nd in Korea’s Superstar K2

We showed you his initial audition, but months later the dust has finally settled and the second season of the hit Korean reality show Superstar K2 has come an end. Chicago native John Park won the hearts of many but it wasn’t enough to take the top spot in the finale of the show last Friday. It’s being reported that he is contemplating staying in Korea to pursue his music career, putting his studies on hold indefinitely. Time will tell whether this young talent will continue to remain in the spotlight but we at a-Tunes would like to congratulate him for going so far in a whirlwind year that saw him land coveted spots on both American Idol and Superstar K2. You can read more about his plans here.

Similar to American Idol, Superstar K2′s winner was determined by a combination of the three judges’ scores and viewers’ votes. The grand prize was 200 million won (approximately $180,000), a recording contract and a Renault Samsung QM5 car.

Jay Legaspi Debuts the “Picture Perfect” MV

Earlier this month we shared the preview for Jey Legaspi’s debut MV for his single “Picture Perfect” from the album of the same name. The premise of the video is cute and matches the fun/upbeat style of the song with touch of sentimentality thought I’d stop short of calling it a home run. It’s a solid release for sure and helps me appreciate the song all the more though honestly my favorite version is still the completely unplugged rendition he did on webcam over a year ago.

JVoQalZ Drops the “One Night” MV

We showed you the preview last week, and now you can watch the final, full release of the music video for “One Night”. The song is a throwback style R&B jam with a decent albeit low budget video, as it lacks polish and is a tad uneven. I’d give it an A for effort but a C+ for execution. The song is for sale up on iTunes, so if you’re feeling it you should support J and get it!

Erika David Covers Miguel’s “All I Want is You” [Free DL]

It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything from Erika David but she returns to Youtube with a new cover, this time a cover of Miguel’s “All I Want is You” which originally features J. Cole. She sets it all to a quasi music video which is pretty simplistic, just various black & white camera shots. I’m not really a fan of the mixdown, the dubs are way too strong but still, it’s good to hear from the girl. You can DL the track for free here.

Kenny Choi Releases New Single – “Wait For You”

Kenny Choi, frontman for the band Daphne Loves Derby and now known for his solo work as Wolftron, has put a new single out called “Wait For You”. It’s a strong track, not too different from the sounds you would hear from DLD. It’s for sale on his bandcamp page for just 99 cents. You can hear and purchase it via the widget below.

Erin Kim Wins Kollaboration Seattle 2010

And you can mark another one for the books. The Kollaboration series has ended for 2010, marking it’s expansion to 10 cities, ending this year’s run in the beautiful North West city of Seattle. It was also the last show in which PK served as director and head of Kollaboration, passing the torch and moving on to concentrate on other endeavors. So how did the show go? Unfortunately we weren’t able to be there but it’s been reported that Erin Kim, the female vocal from the show trailer, has taken the top spot & grand prize. I saw her perform at the preview show a few weeks back and the girl certainly has some spunk and talent. She’s another recent Kollaboration winner who comes from the younger end of the spectrum but it goes to show that age is nothing but a number.

Congratulations Erin!

Traphik Releases the “Hey Selena Gomez” MV

This song is both ridiculous and humorous, a line Traphik often straddles. Never knew he harbored such a crush on the Disney star (who is legal btw). The entire song is literally dedicated to her. Now that’s commitment haha. Or in the words of Gym Class Heroes, if that ain’t love then I don’t know what love is. Hahaha, but you can expect this track off his upcoming free mixtape too.
