XL Middleton Drops “The Four Loko Theme” MV

This is one of those examples where something it’s so dumb it’s great. California rapper XL Middleton teams up with Reality Jones to make this ridiculous homage to the now banned alcoholic beverage Four Loko. The funniest part about the song is that it’s so smooth, if you weren’t paying attention you’d think it was a legit R&B love jam. The whole song makes me shake my head and crack up at the same time. That’s an impressive feat.

MYX TV Releases Quick Recap of Loaded Concert Event

MYX TV, the organizers of one of the biggest events of 2010, has put together a quick recap of what went down last month at UC Davis for the Loaded concert event featuring Erika David, JRA, Crazed, Meesh, SB, Traphik and more. Even though I’m sure it’s not even close to being as good of an experience as actually being at the show, it’s still a great watch and at least gives everyone such as myself who missed out, a hint of what occurred.

Crown J Reportedly Charged for Marijuana Possession

In a disappointing (but admittedly not completely surprising) turn of events, KPOP/aspiring US rapper Crown J has reportedly been charged with possession of marijuana. Supposedly he’s being questioned so that authorities can learn more about his sources, whom he’s been buying from at least as early as May of this year.

Now I’ll be the first to say I’m not exactly a Crown J fan, but this is still an unfortunate set back for the musician. What is also interesting is the fact that authorities are pressuring him for information. This leaves me to wonder if he’ll “snitch” and cooperate with authorities to help speed along and minimize the legal consequences there by losing the hip-hop/street cred he so desperately desires and has been building up; or will he stay quiet, taking on the ramifications head on despite their effects on his career but lose the affirmation of his “peers”?

Whatever happens, my distaste for his “music” aside, I hope he can find the best resolution to the matter.

Kero One Releases “Stay on the Grind” MV

A couple weeks back we showed you a preview of Kero’s latest MV for an older single of his called “Stay on the Grind”. Kero Uno takes the opportunity to explore skateboarding culture in this collaboration with veteran artist Ohmega Watts dating back to one of his earlier albums – Early Believers. I haven’t had the chance to peep the video in full myself but I’ll post up my thoughts later.

Press release after the jump. Continue reading

Olivia Thai Releases New Single – “Stalemate” [Free DL]

Singer/songwriter Olivia Thai mostly posts up covers on Youtube but today she’s released her new single titled “Stalemate”. It’s a slow, acoustic ballad but this is the best I’ve heard Olivia in recent memory. I’m really liking this song though the accompanying performance video is a little dull (just one shot of her singing in front of the cam). The song is available for free DL if you tweet about it via this link. A solid release from Ms Thai.
