Sam Ock x Jason Min & Others Form New Project Group – June
Wow. These guys are pretty good at keeping things on the DL, but Sam Ock & Jason Min, along with Elias Yoon and Evan Chapmen have formed a side project group called June, named after the month they got together and cranked out some records. Along with announcing the group, they’ve also gone ahead and dropped their debut EP (self titled). It’s only a few tracks but it’s a great mash up of acoustic styles and creativity. I’m looking forward to letting this one marinate in the playlist for a little while. It’s a free DL so don’t miss out!
Showdown: Verseatile vs Yongie Phresh x Decipher
Even in Hip-Hop circles, there are songs that tend to get the remix treatment from nearly everyone. One of the more recent trend is for an MC to switch up Fabolous’s “You Be Killin’ Em”. The two we have for today’s showdown certainly aren’t the only remixes I’ve seen from artists we cover, but I happened to watch both today so of course there’s the temptation for comparison. In one corner we got Verseatile, who gives the track a simple but impressive one take video treatment. In the other corner is a tag team with Philly representatives Yongie Phresh & Decipher. Each took their version of the song in completely different directions and even though they share the same beat they have a very different feel as a result. But which one did YOU like? West vs East, let’s go!
Verseatile
Yongie Phresh x Decipher
I was feeling Verseatile’s positive spin and his easy delivery & execution on a single take, but I thought Yongie & De brought too much to the table to turn down. Not that these songs were meant to ever be compared but if I had to listen to only one of them over the other… my vote would lean more towards the Philly heads. But what say you? Express your vote!
Until next time!
D-Pryde Remixes Sean Kingston x Justin Bieber’s “I Won’t Stop” [Free DL]
To be honest, the kid D-Pryde drops waaaaaaaayyy too many covers and remixes for us to cover all of them, but every once in a while he shares something that especially stands out. I gotta give credit where credit is due, he killed it in this unplugged, acoustic rendition of Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber’s “I Won’t Stop”. Watch out, Prizzy’s got some versatility. This was a refreshing switch up.
New Jennifer Chung Tune – “Lost Boy”
Here’s a new song from Jennifer Chung, and in more ways than one. As she grows as an artist it appears she’s experimenting with different styles and expanding her song writing. This latest track, called “Lost Boy” is pretty different from anything I can remember hearing from her. But you know what? I kinda dig it. I always thought JC had the perfect Pop voice but it looks like she’s got a little indie singer/songwriter in her as well.
Sam Hart Sings New Original – “Day Star”
Sam Hart’s acoustic stylings tend to be hit or miss for me, especially as he seems to deliberately distance himself from his name-making Mario Kart Love Song days. But this one, called “Day Star”, was oddly straight down the middle. I enjoyed his almost folksy melody and quirky composition but thought the song could have used a little more style and emotion here and there. But I know of plenty of folks who love all his material so maybe it’s just me.
Rooftop Pursuit Releases Self-Titled Debut EP
Singer Phil Good and his band Rooftop Pursuit have been hard at work and have just dropped their debut self-titled EP. If you’re not able to catch them at a show, don’t fret because its also available on iTunes & Amazon among other places. It’s a 6 track release including the re-mastered and finalized versions of the singles “Why I Sing” and “Again” which we previously shared demo versions of when the group was still known as The Phil Good Band. Having heard these live I can tell you I’m excited to hear and see what they were able to do in the studio with this EP.
1. Rooftop Pursuit – Broken Smile
2. Rooftop Pursuit – Need Some Time
3. Rooftop Pursuit – Why I Sing
4. Rooftop Pursuit – Again
5. Rooftop Pursuit – The Best Of Me
6. Rooftop Pursuit – I Wanna
Jay Park Interviews w/ Complex Mag

I gotta admit. I did not really see this one coming. But I guess when you’re an international Pop sensation word gets around huh? The wildly famous Jay Park has a new interview out with Complex Magazine. It’s a really great read where Jay speaks pretty candidly on a number of topics including past, current, and future projects and all the surround experiences that go with it. This is probably the most informative single source of trusted information on Jay at the moment. You can check it in full either after the break or at Complex Mag.
Marie Digby Shares New Original – “Your Love”
One of Youtube’s pioneering musicians has finally released some new material for the world to see/hear. Marie Digby‘s latest tune is called “Your Love” and has an upbeat/happy go lucky feel that could very well be the perfect remedy to a bad day. Personally I’ve always loved Marie the most when she’s strips away the production and keeps it simple; this video doesn’t dissapoint. Welcome back Marie!
I caught a super bad flu last week
But good thing is, it forced me to stay at home and since I had so much time to kill.. I also had time to be creative and write new songs! I was in such a state of discomfort that I wanted to write something utterly happy and cheerful.. so voila.. here’s ‘Your Love’. All hand clappin, piano playing, guitar playing, overall silliness by moi
Arden Cho Releases Single – “I’m Just a Girl”

As promised, Arden Cho is debuting her single “I’m Just a Girl” today. But don’t think for a second that the girl is stopping at this milestone. She’s just announced that the music video will debut on Youtube in just a few days time, you can be sure to catch it here when it’s available. It’s an acoustic pop song, similar to Taylor Swift but less country. It’s light, fun, and kinda catchy, though vaguely similar to a lot of songs. Right now it’s only available on iTunes but we’ll update this post with additional sources if we here about it.
Thanks loves who got my single on iTunes! <3 The MV will be posted in a couple days! Make sure to Subscribe~ http://tinyurl.com/25tzxml

Boxer Nonito Donaire Walks out to Deep Foundation x Hydroponikz’s “Children of the Sun”
Boxer Nonito Donaire recently chose to walk into the stadium for his fight to Deep Foundation & Hydroponikz’s Filipino anthem – “Children of the Sun“. That’s some pretty cool placement for the artists and an encouraging sign of inter-culture support across multiple domains. The track is off the DF album The First Draft. Honestly, it’s a very fitting choice for the boxer. For those of you who were wondering, Donaire won the match as well.
