LA’s 3Strykes have just dropped a new MV for their song “Beat Oven” featuring Surrilla. The track makes great use of a Beethoven sample (get the title now?). I gotta say I’m really impressed with the production values. They made the most out of the location with great editing, animation, and post effects. The track itself is a gritty banger with that still keeps a west coast style intact. The song grows on you. Pretty nice, we’ll definitely keep 3Strykes on our radar.

New Video Drop From Bambu – “The Rock Rock On”
Back in November Bambu x DJ Muggs dropped the Los Angeles, Philipines mixtape, including the song “The Rock Rock On”. The track is a respectful ode to Bam’s motherland and though it barely clocks in at over 2 minutes it’s one of the more inspiring listens/views you’ll likely come across today. This wasn’t some big budget video but it was simple and effective. Sometimes less is more.

Kina Grannis Shares Latest Track w/ EW

As Kina Grannis prepares to launch her remastered and remixed version of Stairwells on April 5th, she’s begun to leak songs, giving her fans a taste of what’s to come. This time around Entertainment Weekly is the venue of choice, and they have an exclusive sneak peek at the new single “The One You Say Goodnight To”. It’s a catchy, acoustic number and well… it’s very Kina. I was feeling it and I think most of you will too. The album is available for pre-order so if you missed it the first time around you definitely want to get this one.
The song is reported only going to be available for streaming the next couple days, so make sure to listen now before it’s gone! Otherwise you’ll have to wait till the album drops or catch her on tour.
afterschoolspecial Remixes “Opposite of Adults” by Chiddy Bang
The rapping frontman from band afterschoolspecial looks to be flexing his MC muscle a little more. He’s got a new remix out of “Opposite of Adults” by Chiddy Bang. Haven’t seen the guy spit like this in a while. He did a pretty decent job and chose a great track to flip. Although they chose an interesting way to distribute the track. If you want a free copy of it you can e-mail info@afterschoolspecialmusic.com and be sure to put “ADULT SONG” as the subject.
It’s a darker take on the track- reminiscing on the days of what it was like to be kid and the struggles of what it’s like now to be an adult.
The Far East Movement Releases Live MV for “So What?”
The Far East Movement have a new performance clip out where they are performing their single “So What” from their album Free Wired, live at The Cherrytree House. The visual concept is interesting where everything is blacked out complete with blacklights and the resulting glowing clothing. The remix things up in the last third with some new lyrics and beat while Virman holds down the tables. That was actually my favorite part of the clip. Look for a new official MV from FM later this week! Our apologies if the video below doesnt work. You can also check it out on their official Vevo Channel.
IZ Releases New MV & IT IZ WHAT IT IZ Mixtape
Thankfully rapper IZ was released from jail and he has hit the ground running, seemingly more inspired than ever. Here are his latest drops, an MV for the single “Run Together” – a remix of Kanye’s “Runaway” which is part of a newly released mixtape entitled IT IZ WHAT IT IZ. In the song IZ touches upon a lot of his life’s experiences and shows love to many of those who have helped support him and his crew. It’s a great introspective Hip-Hop track and one of my favorites to hear from him thus far.
The mixtape also dropped today containg 17 tracks, many of which we’ve heard before and some unreleased. Look for collabs with Thai, Tommy C, Michelle Martinez, FM, Lil Crazed, J. Reyez & more. We’re thrilled to see IZ more back, determined and inspired. The mixtape is a free DL so be sure to grab it here.
Worst Ever: Wonder Girls = Hyori? Amazon Thinks We All Look Alike
Wow. OK. So allow me to preface this post with the disclaimer that I’m a huge fan of AmazonMP3. I purchase most of my digital music through there and since I’m not really plugged into the Apple Universe of products and services, Amazon remains the most viable option for me.
With that said I was browsing the site when I happened to peek at the suggestions they had for me. Lo and behold I see a Hyori’s face and I chuckle, because for one I didn’t expect her to be on AmazonMP3 and two it’s a humorous suggestion to begin with. I click the image and quickly realized this is the page for the Wonder Girls’ album Triology. For those of you not well versed in KPOP culture, those are two very different acts. Hyori is a women in her early 30′s that has made a career out of strategically capitalizing on her sex appeal while the Wonder Girls are a group of teens & young adults who symbolize the epitome of bubble gum pop. I’m a casual fan of both but there really is no mistaking the two.
Tommy C Releases New Single – “Sweetheart”
We’re a little behind in sharing this with you but Tommy C of IBU (speaking of which, I wonder what the group has been up to?) has just dropped a new single called “Sweetheart”. If you’re familiar with Tommy C’s style then this is pretty much exactly what you’d expect. It’s a solid R&B/Pop song where he thankfully keeps things fairly straight forward. The track is available on iTunes & AmazonMP3 so if you’re feeling it, definitely support the guy!
Just ‘Cause: Young Maria Aragon Covers Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”
As of this post, this clip has gotten over 8M views, so I’m sure many of you have seen this already. But for those who haven’t, we wanted to share this clip of a young girl by the name of Maria Aragon covering Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”. What makes this clip crazy is that no only does she do a beautiful rendition of Gaga’s song, but she’s friggn 10 years old. TEN. I was college aged when this kid was born. Anyway, the girl has a ton of talent and charisma, without even taking her age into account. She has a potentially bright future and we hope to hear more from her!
Gerald Ko x Arden Cho Cover Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love”
It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Gerald Ko, but he’s back with a new YT video. Arden Cho is a guest feature and since many of you haven’t heard her sing before and because she’s got a single dropping in a few days time, we figured this would be a great clip to share with you all. They cover Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love” and do a beautiful job at it. Gerald’s voice was a great fit for this style and Arden has strong voice too, but it definitely has a theatrical lean to it. I can see her doing well in a project like Glee or in a live play.
