Passport: AI & Superstar K’s John Park Signs Deal with Korea’s Music Farm

Do you guys remember John Park? The former Northwestern University student made quite the impression on American Idol a couple years back, only to be eliminated early on in the semi-finals, then staged a surprising rise to stardom on the similar Korean TV show Superstar K. Well after placing second on that show, he’s been relatively quiet but news has emerged that he’s signed with the Korean label Music Farm. The label is home to a number of well respected artists and we wish John the best in this new chapter of his career! It looks like the transformation to KPOP star is nearly complete. Congrats John!

Beatrock Music Releases the Digital Martyrs Remix Beatrock Album

Indie label Beatrock Music has dropped a remix album by Digital Martyrs featuring different spins on a whole bunch of songs by Power Struggle, Rocky Rivera, Bambu, Blue Scholars, Kiwi and more. These songs generally sound completely different from their originals so if you’re looking to hear a new perspective on some of your favorite Califorinia indie Hip-Hop songs then it’d behoove you to check this on out. It’s a free DL so don’t miss out.
Jazmin Posts New Performance Footage of “Like You”
This song’s already a couple years old, and this isn’t the first time they’ve shared some live performance footage of it, but it’s such a darn catchy track and we don’t hear from these girls nearly enough so we’ve decided to post it up for you guys anyway. Here is Jazmin, performing “Like You” at the Haute Nightclub in Hollywood. Stay tuned till the end for a bonus sweet dance routine. Can’t wait to hear something new from these girls!
Dumbfoundead Spits Another “Blue” (Prod. by Soulspeak)
Even though the beat is simple, barely any bass, and only 1 minute long. Dumbfoundead goes off on how he loves to do what he does. Also I think this the beat fits Dumbfoundead’s voice well at least for this video. There’s really not much to say but DFD makes it seem like the “rap game” is simple cause his verses are smooth. It’s not simple as you think though, you hear DFD saying that road was a lonely one and it was a struggle to get where he is now. At the end of the video, he says his Album is coming out soon, I can’t wait to see whats in store.
Crown J x Young Dro Release the Long-Delayed “I’m Good” MV
Nearly two years in the making, Southern rapper via South Korea Crown J has finally dropped the MV for his single “I’m Good“. We first the the track in 2009, and have seen previews of the video since the first half of last year so was it worth the wait? Well we already knew what the track sounded like, so for better or worse the video is a perfect fit for the song… and I’ll leave it to you decide whether that’s a good thing. What’s even more interesting is that his label paid for the video to be featured on the front page of WSHH. Hopefully its a move that pays off. Get the song here.
Just ‘Cause: Traphik Gets Big-Headed… Literally
Here you go folks, this will likely be your WTF moment of the day. Traphik, or should I say Timothy DeLaGhetto, has a new short out sponsored by Brisk called Balloon Head. It’s ludicrous/humorous, stupid/stupid funny, and a whole lot of entertaining non-sense. Just watch to see what I mean. Oh the wonder that is modern technology.
Pmac Drops New Album & MV for Single “One”
Pmac makes his return with a brand new album called First Impression along with the lead single “One”. The track makes use of a dope sample flip of the classic rock group Three Dog Night. The video features some sharp visuals and snazzy text effects that really add an extra punch. I haven’t heard from this artist in a while but I gotta say I came away impressed with this joint. Props to him and his team. “One”, along with the rest of the album, is available for free DL, grab it here!
Young Chariz x San Quinn x Elijah Henry Drop “The Way She Moves”
Chariz has a new cut for you to listen to off his upcoming album It’s Curtains, due out June 7th. It’s a club R&B joint called “The Way She Moves” and features Frisco vet San Quinn and Elijah Henry on the hook. The song is pretty polished and is definitely a smooth fit for it’s target audience. It’s cool to hear some versatility from Young Chariz.
Clara C & Friends Cover “Don’t You Wanna Stay”
Clara C and her friends Jake Bruene, Kurt Schneider, and Kevin Olusola cover “Don’t You Wanna Stay” originally by Jason Aldean ft. Kelly Clarkson. I’d have to say this a great cover, Clara C did wonderfully on the chorus as well as the verses. Jake Bruene who started off in video did great, Clara’s and his voiced matched for this song. Did you guys recognize the piano cause I did, Kurt did really well and not only was he in the video, the video editing was Kurt’s type of way. I’m not an expert on violin’s but from what Kevin played was beautiful to listen too. Enough about them though, if you want to hear Clara live in person then she has 2 shows coming up! One show will be at Q Cafe and The Loft.
Gabe Bondoc Shares Snippet of New Single – “Trenches”
It looks like Gabe Bondoc has a new EP in the works and has shared a little preview of a song called “Trenches”. It’s a blues/pop rock thing going for it, similar to John Mayer in a way, and I think it’s a winning sound for the singer. I’m excited to hear what else the talented guitarist has up his sleeves for the full EP release. Perhaps a duet with Ramiele? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
