April Chase Leaks “Too Short to Ride” From Upcoming Album

We heard a rough unplugged version of the song “Too Short to Ride” by April Chase a few weeks back. It’s the first track off their EP album Still Breathing, set to drop soon. Today they decided to leak the full studio version on Youtube and well… God bless Jesse Barrera cause this man sure knows how to engineer & produce rock. The song had charm before but now it’s a straight up great pop/rock track. The band sounds great here and I gotta say… I have high expectations for the EP.

Van Ness Wu Interviews w/ Droku Mag

International pop super star Van Ness Wu (I swear I hear fan girls feinting at the very mention of his name) got to chatting with Droku Mag and the result is a pretty decent feature interview with the guy. He shares about his rapid rise to stardom and how he’s since adjusted and normalized since his early days – and discovering and focusing on what’s important to him now. The article offers some nice insight into Van Ness’s life, who seems a lot more humble and down to earth than most people in his position.

Read the interview in full after the break or over at Droku!

New Mondega Song – “Wish You Were Here”

Southern Hip-Hop artist Mondega returns with a new track called “Wish You Were Here” off his upcoming project, Food, Clothing and Love. The song is simple and sparse but it’s one of my fav drops from Mondega so far. I really enjoy it when an MC can balance a heartfelt delivery with style, which he does easily on a piano-backed beat. Strong track all the way around. I hope this is a sign of what’s to come on FCL.

The Freshmen: Andy Ha – Would It Matter ft Decipher

It’s been a few weeks since our last Freshmen feature, where we feature artists who haven’t quite developed a following yet, and are still working on establishing themselves and making their official debut. Remember it’s important that you the readers vote either thumbs up or thumbs down on these posts because this will help us decide which of these artists can graduate from The Freshmen and be a part of the regular rotation of a-Tunes Music News.

So it was great timing that an artist by the name of Andy Ha decided to drop his first single called “Would It Matter” featuring none other than Decipher (this guy seems to enjoying lending his flow to new talent). This seems to be another case where talent runs in the family as Andy is the brother to body beat boxing extraordinaire, James Ha. This track is a mid-tempo R&B joint completely written, produced, and engineered by Andy. Production values are pretty sharp, and featuring De was a good look as it helped switch up the pace and offer some variety. It’s a farily promising start, let’s see where Andy can take it from here.

But of course, it’s your opinion that matters the most. What do you think? Thumbs up or down? Has Andy earned a spot on the a-Tunes news feed?

PS – we’re looking for some fresh, new female talent to feature too! If you think you got what it takes, or know of someone who does, drop us a line! info [at] a-Tunes.net!

Rocky Rivera Retells the story of “La Madrina” [Free DL]

Rocky Rivera, formerly known as Eyeasage, has a new concept song out called “La Madrina”. Similar to Jay’s American Gangsta series a few years back – RR gets to living out the life of one of the most prominent figures in American drug-lore history – Griselda Blanco. Read up here if you’re not well versed on the subject. It’s a dope concept and the recanting of a true story of female empowerment fueled by dark ambitions. I’m not in love with the track but I can appreciate it. DL it here for free.
