Jason Chen & Cathy Nguyen Covers “Perfect” by Pink

I’d have to say, this is one of the best covers I’ve heard.  As he said before, he has come out with a lot of videos.  He keeps working hard and shows how much he enjoys doing this.  You could say Cathy has been under a rock for quite sometime now, I missed when she put out videos at a consistent rate.  Cathy looking pretty as ever, did very well on the track.  Surprisingly, Jason did well on this track as well.  In my opinion, they were the 2 artists who could pull of this duet.  Their vocals were pretty well matched.

Scott & Alexa Yoshimoto Cover “Pray” (For Japan)

There are a number of artists who have already shown their support for Japan as they recover from the crazy natural disasters and resulting chaos, but this one in particular struck a chord with me. Siblings Scott & Alexa Yoshimoto have just completed their first cover video together and its of the Justin Bieber song “Pray”, only now attached to the greater cause of supporting the land of the rising sun.

This is actually the first YouTube cover together with my sister, and we wanted to make it a meaningful one. Nothing brings people together like the power of music, and the people of Japan could use all the hope and support they can get. So please #prayforjapan and spread awareness and hope by sharing our video with everybody you love, life is too crazy and unpredictable to forget that.

Jihae Shares a Live Performance of “Lonely Fire”

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to see Jihae perform live you should check this clip out. Here she sings her tune “Lonely Fire” off her Fire Buring Rain album, at the Rockwood Musica Hall in NY. Wither her, I honestly never know what video edits are intentional and what is just the nature of the footage captured but this clip is kind of haunting yet draws you in. Jihae clearly gets lost in her art when she performs.

Lily Bee Performs “Sailboat” Live

California to Maryland and Back to California singer Lily Bee has been a little on the quiet side recently, but it looks like she has a few things in store for us coming soon. For one, her debut music video is reportedly in the works and will be premiering in the near future. Secondly, to help us stay patient she’s dropped this peaceful gem of a performance for her song “Sailboat” off her Daydream at Midnight album released last fall. She takes her signature sound and pairs it with a uke while at the beach. A perfect match if you ask me.

The Freshmen: Daniel Kim – “All I Need Is You”

Why don’t we start off the week with a new Freshmen feature, where we feature artists who haven’t quite developed a following yet, and are still working on establishing themselves and making their official debut. Remember it’s important that you the readers vote either thumbs up or thumbs down on these posts because this will help us decide which of these artists can graduate from The Freshmen and be a part of the regular rotation of a-Tunes Music News.

Daniel Kim is a musician out of Michigan whom I’ve had the privilege of seeing him perform live. I remember he sang one of his tunes called “All I Need Is You” at this coffeehouse event and I distinctly recall being impressed by the the raw and simple power of the track. It appears he’s finally put down a studio version of the track and has just dropped the official MV for the song. I think the studio version loses a little bit of it’s raw live energy but it’s a clean, well balanced mix. The video is sharp, standard DSLR fare really – an appropriate visual given the song content. But of course my say means nothing, it’s all about your vote. Wanna hear more from Daniel Kim on a-Tunes? Thumbs up! You’d rather pass? Thumbs down. Let us know!
