Mondega Releases MV for “Music for the People” ft Bambu

Check the latest drop from Mondega, it’s the MV for “Music for the People” off his upcoming Food Love Clothing album. The track features LA  representative Bambu and it’s another strong release from the both of em. Everything from the visuals, to the production, to the flow is real polished here. Getting Bam to jump on the record was a good look too cause he fit the style perfectly. Looking forward for the full album to drop!

D-Pryde Announces Mixtape Release Date & Drops Big Sean Cover Video

So it looks like the MMG’s “Mars Mixtape”  will drop in a month and a half, on June 3rd. I’m sure you can expect plenty of D-Pryde on there. In the meanwhile, the kid D has chosen to drop a new cover video. I can’t argue that the Big Sean track “My Last” isn’t a decent track; which is likely by D-Pryde is yet another rapper to use the instrumental for a remix of his own. Not bad at all. It’s a free DL, so get it here.

Worst Ever: Dumbest MJ Cover EVER

Sigh. I have no words. From the off key singing to the divo attitude and repetitive shouting of “ITS NOT MY TRACK!”… along with the s-bomb as the cherry on top… This will go down in history as one of the worst covers of an Michael Jackson track ever. Watch this kid’s attempt at “Black or White”. That my friends, is why this is another addition to our “Worst Ever” feature.

Young Chariz Shares an EPK

EPKs (electronic press kits), especially of the video variety, are basically an artist’s interview with themselves. Young Chariz has one out that you can watch below. It adds a little bit of contextual depth to the Bay Area rapper, helping you scratch just a little beyond the surface on who Chariz really is. Same time, it’s filtered through the scope of his team but either way it’s an informative quick watch.

Nump Trump Drops the “I’m Hungover” MV

At the tail end of last year Nump Trump shared a song called “I’m Hungover” that prominently featured a sample from The Office TV theme song. The track was later included on his #DAILYMEDICATION mixtape and most recently got the full blown MV treatment. The make a few Office references and overall make an MV fitting for the song. Production values are great along with the added text effects. It’s a silly song with a silly MV, but I suppose that’s the appeal. Just don’t blame me if you can’t ever think of the Office theme song the same.

AJ Rafael Shares “Without You”

San Diego’s Jesse Barrera is staying busy, helping yet another artist record an album – AJ Rafael! AJ took a few moments to step away from recording to share a track (“Without You”) that will be included on the album. They reportedly were very excited about this one and couldn’t wait to give you all a taste of what’s to come. Towards the end of the clip you can hear a very brief preview of the studio version. I have to agree with them, this song has a lot of promise.

Jen Kwok x DANakaDAN Release “That Thang” MV

Comedian/recoding artist Jen Kwok has a new music video out that continues in her signature style of over-the-top awkward humor. What makes this MV a little different is that she’s enlisted the help of afterschoolspecial frontman DANakaDAN. The song is a mixture of rap, song, and … the bizarre. Some people find Jen Kwok to be hilarious, I myself find her more mildly humorous but you gotta appreciate her commitment to her craft. If you’re interested in a free DL of the song you can e-mail info@afterschoolspecialmusic.com with “THAT THANG” in subject line.

Jason Yang x Jake Moulton Fuse Electric Violin & Beatbox

It’s so fun to see musicians think outside of the box and lean back on their classical training roots and still be able to pull from the influence of today’s pop culture. Jason Yang, a violinist with whom you should be familiar with by now, got together with Jake Moulton for this dope mash-up video of  Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and Bruno Mars’ “Grenade”. It’s crazy what an electric violin, some pedals & repeaters, and raw talent can achieve. Props to the both of them! (Check out another one of their videos here)

Joseph Vincent & Richard Marx Covers “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard this song by Luther Vandross, “Dance With My Father.”  It’s one of those songs that’s really sad but joyful song.  I say that because it’s talking about his memories with his father but at the same time it’s really sad since the father has passed away.  Joseph Vincent did a wonderful job but I feel like he could have sang a bit louder.  Maybe he kept his voice at that tone to keep the melody.  Richard Marx did a great job directing and playing the piano, it seems that Richard has been poppin’ up lately in this YouTube society.  As I was saying about Joseph, his vocals were great as usual.  I feel like the video was a bit dull since they were at only one location but all out, great video.
