Snapshot: Jackie Chain x The Hundreds

Sometimes a picture says more than words ever could. That’s why I think this picture of Jackie Chain performing live at a Bay area event thrown by The Hundreds is pretty epic. I’ve never seen the guy on stage but I’ve heard he is one of the most passionate and focused artists out there when he steps up to the mic. This is a dope photo and a welcome feature in our Snapshot series. See more pictures of JC along with the full write up over at The Hundreds.

[Single Release] City Boy x Toestah – “Maybe I Do” [Free DL]

AZ’s City Boy just dropped a new track featuring Toestah. The song, “Maybe I Do” is another cut from his upcoming D.E.R.E.Z.2 mixtape – due next week on June 2nd. Overall I’m liking the track as it’s raw and sober but the hook had me feeling pretty split. City’s rendition was borderline cringe worthy with the auto-tune set way off. On the other hand, when Toestah took a stab at it, the chorus was suddenly a lot more bearable. Anyway, it’s a free DL so grab it here if you wish!

[Update]Look’s like he re-up’d with a tweaked hook. Much better.

[Live Performance] Andy Suzuki & The Method – “Fool”

It’s become very apparent to me that Andy Suzuki & The Method is one of those bands that need to be seen live to fully appreciate. Their live footage is so dynamic, energetic, and well executed that it makes me hope for a live album! In this clip they are performing one of their older tracks, “Fool”, from the album 300 Pianos. The fellas sure do know how to rock the stage! Gotta make a mental note to catch a show sometime soon.

AJ Rafael on Billboard’s Battle of the Bands

Last month we reported that AJ Rafael made the cut as a finalist on Billboard’s Battle of the Bands, where he earned the honor of performing live at the finals in Las Vegas last week . Unfortunately he didn’t win the competition but did still gain a lot of exposure through the competition. Check out the live performance below as well as some additional clips after the break. We’re so proud of AJ and know that he still has a very bright future ahead of him.

[Single Release] Charice – “Louder”

The effervescent Charice returns with a new double single release, “Louder” and “Lost the Best Thing”. You can hear Louder in the lyrics video after the break but both songs are available now on iTunes and will be up on Amazon next week as well. “Louder” is a fun, upbeat pop song perfect for Charice’s age and demographic. Can’t wait till the kid drops a new album.

[Music Video] The Yellow Boyz – “Gone Fishin”

Here’s something a little more light hearted from the Southern rap group Yellow Boyz. The track is called “Gone Fishin”, a song about kicking back and enjoying the good times. The video doesn’t hide it’s home-made roots but it’s a fair match for the track itself. PassDa’s energetic delivery stole the song though.

Clara C x Rock Band Relief to Release “Heartstrings” for Rock Band 3 Video Game

This is the type of news we just love to report on here at a-Tunes. We’ve just found out that Clara C has teamed up with Rock Band Relief, an organization that teams up with artists to sell fully playable versions of their songs for Rock Band 3 (primarily on the XBOX 360) with portions of the proceeds going to various disaster relief funds. In this particular case, the lovely & talented Clara C will be releasing “Heartstrings” (from the album Art in my Heart) of which you can learn a little bit more on the creation process via the video below. Look for the song soon on the Rock Band Network!

[Music Video] Lyrics Born – “Coulda Woulda Shoulda”

Peep the latest visuals from Deacon artist Lyrics Born for his track “Coulda Woulda Shoulda” off his As U Were album. You can expect heavily stylized visuals to match the funky texture of the track. I’ll be sure to update later with my thoughts!

[update] It’s always refreshing to see artists have fun with their videos. The VCR-esque retro feel of this MV really sets it apart and highlights the throwback feel of the song. The super-imposed animated face on LB is a hilarious touch. L. Beezy rarely makes boring videos and this is no different.

See the behind-the-scenes footage after the break!
