[Music Video] Priscilla Ahn – “I Don’t Have Time to Be In Love”

This is the latest music video by Priscilla Ahn for the single “I Don’t Have Time to Be In Love” off her recently released album When You Grow Up. I haven’t seen it in full myself yet but I’ll be sure to update with my thoughts later. Until then, enjoy!

[update] I loved the concept of the video but it dragged a little bit and the green screen effect alternated between beautiful and cheesy. The song is fantastic though, and I’m glad she’s promoting it.

[Live Performance] Dawen – “Wake Up” on MYX TV

Here’s a dope performance clip of Dawen over at the MYX TV studios where he sings his Asian American anthem “Wake Up” from the album American Me. The song’s a couple years old at this point but for those who haven’t heard it, it’s almost a required listen. Ya gotta love what MYX is doing for the community! Though I have to be honest, as someone who’s familiar with his catalog, I’m starting to wish he’d perform some new material.

[Interview] Rooftop Pursuit w/ Cauhoi Productions

For those uninitiated with the band Rooftop Pursuit, this clip serves as a great introduction to the group where you get to learn a little bit about the band, their history, the individual members, working with Jubilee Project and a lot more. As a bonus you get to see them perform some of their material – providing a pretty thorough glimpse at the group. Def a recommended watch!

Dia Frampton Advances Past the Battle Round on NBC’s The Voice

Dia Frampton (of Meg & Dia) has just advanced past the Battle round on the NBC show The Voice to earn a spot as one of the four singers from Blake Shelton’s team for the live show. She was chosen over Serabee in what was quite frankly a bizarre pairing to the song “You Can’t Hurry Love” by the Supremes. Serabee, obviously the more technically capable singer, failed to show restraint and oversang herself out of the competition with what was ultimately a very messy performance. Dia, on the other hand, kept her cool and stayed true to her roots though it was apparent she was a bit uncomfortable. Regardless, a win is a win and we think it was well deserved. Can’t wait to see her perform live!

Check out their reactions after the break. You can find more footage over at The Voice.

[Live Performance & Interview] Kina Grannis – “The One You Say Goodnight To” & “Stars Falling Down” at The Loft

For those who have yet to see Kina Grannis live, you should know she has a certain warm charm to her on-stage presence that is particularly fitting for smaller more intimate venues. This is a perfect example with footage of a recent gig she had at the Loft in New Jersey. She’s singing her tune “The One You Say Goodnight To” off her album Stairwells. Thank God for the media team at the Loft because this is one sharply produced clip – making it almost just as good as being at the show in person. Almost.

For more coverage check out the clips below or head on over to the Loft to check it all out in full.

[Music Video] On Fire Ent x Rocky Sandoval – “Out of My Head” (Lupe x Trey Remix)

On the plus side it looks like On Fire Entertainment had a lot of fun with this remix and MV of Lupe Fiasco’s “Out of My Head” originally featuring Trey Songz. On the downside, there really isn’t much reason to listen to this version as it doesn’t do anything better than the original. Rocky Sandoval showed off some impressive vocals towards the end of the track but other than that the song can’t compare – at least they chose a song with a great beat to remix. The track isn’t bad, just generic.

[Interview] Shin-B w/ ChannelAPA

Female Hip-Hop MC Shin-B took a few moments to talk it up with the folks of ChannelAPA. It’s an insightful watch and an informative piece on the artist who has been bubbling under the radar for years and has finally started to gain traction within the past few months. Make sure to check it out along with the upcoming 3 Choices mixtape.

[MV Preview] Notorious MSG – “Red Tonight”

Hot off the release of their brand new album Heavy Ghetto, the Notorious MSG have just posted up an MV trailer for the first single – “Red Tonight”. It looks like we can expect a lot of retro-infused hilarity… a seemingly perfect fit for the musical comedy trio. I’m starting to think MSG & Lyrics Born might have to do a collab. They are both artists with an absurd amount of creative energy; the idea is so crazy it just might work. Anyway, look for the MV to drop in the near future.

[Single Release] Natalise – “Open Me” [Free DL]

I’ve heard NorCal’s Natalise on a variety of different styles of music, seeing her dip her toes in various genres and experimenting with her sound. Her latest release, the first in quite some time, is a track called “Open Me” that finds her returning to a more mature, refined sound that fits an A/C Pop mold. Somewhat surprising though not unpleasing. Although I think this style isn’t quite a perfect fit, it’s an intriguing sign of things to come. Listen & DL the song for free from her FB.

[Music Video] Young Chariz – “The Next Level”

With the release date for Chariz‘s It’s Curtains quickly approaching, the rapper has just released a new music video for the intro track “The Next Level”. Visually this just might be the sharpest looking release YC & his team have dropped so far. The song is a decent album opener that makes great use of a bluesy guitar riffing in the background. If their intention was to get me intrigued for the album then they’ve succeeded.
