Sam Ock x J. Han of AMP Spit An Acapella Remix of “Hello Hummingbird”

This is a pretty cool clip of a completely acapella remix, complete with beatbox, of the song “Hello Hummingbird” by AMP that Sam first shared back in 2009. It’s a great rendition with a minor stumble here and there as they perform for what looks to be a class or workshop of some type. Seeing this makes me wonder what an unplugged version with maybe a cajon might sound like.

Dia Frampton Places Second in The First Season of NBC’s The Voice

In a tough and close results show, Dia Frampton unfortunately lost the title to the first ever season of NBC’s The Voice to veteran singer Javier Colon. It was a well deserved win for Javier but we can’t help but wish that Dia had won top honors. Needless to say, she’s had an incredible run, beating out many other singers and earning herself a world of new exposure and fans. We commend and applaud her for her efforts and hope that this experience will only strengthen her career along with her band, Meg & Dia. Don’t forget to catch her and the other top 7 competitors on tour!

Catch her great performances of her new single “Inventing Shadows”, and duet with coach Blake Shelton on “I Won’t Back Down”.

David Choi Releases a Lucky MV Called “I Choose Happiness”

It appears that David Choi is continually expanding this resume, earning himself a placement in the upcoming dark comedy film Lucky. The song is called “I Choose Happiness” and he and the producers have put together a little quasi music video slash trailer for the song featuring clips from the film. Congrats to Mr. Choi on the big placement! The movie drops July 15th in limited release.

Esna Wants to Be “Together Always”

Where in the world has Esna Yoon been? Well, we knew she was in Korea, but where has her music been? She ends the sonic drought by sharing the following new original entitled “Together Always”. Esna adds some great acoustic soul to the song and mixes things up beautifully by going bi-lingual with the English & Korean lyrics. We’re glad to see the girl back in action and can only hope that this is the start of many more to come!

FM Drops the MV for “If I Was You (OMG)” (On Campus Remix)

This song sure has some legs! In the latest version, FM takes “If I Was You (OMG)” featuring Snoop and puts together a rendition honoring the college campuses they hit up while on tour. It’s a great nod to their fans and large chunk of their core audience by releasing a song & video honoring the demographic. The original MV dropped back in March and is off their Free Wired LP, released last fall.

Adam Warrock Instructs You to “Chew Harder” [Free DL]

Adam Warrock has another new comic book inspired single entitled “Chew Harder”, inspired by the Image Comics publication Chew. This particular remix has a hard hitting beat that is less nerdcore and more 90′s old-school street. He spits with an energetic tenacity that matches the instrumental well. The song is available for as much as you’re willing to pay, including free, via Adam’s bandcamp below.

JRA Says Please “Don’t Fall For Me”!

Taking a step back from his usual acoustic numbers, JRA has posted up a more conventional R&B track called “Don’t Fall For Me”. No matter the style, Mr Aquino sounds as great as ever and has even put together a little promo music video for it as well. You can catch it just below, followed by the lyrics after the break. No word yet on if/when the song may see an official release.

Jessi Malay Must “Like You” Enough to Preview Her Upcoming Single

True to her word, Jessi Malay continues to prepare for her return. The following is a clip of “Like You”, an upcoming pop single done with Prophet. Unfortunately we don’t get to hear the whole song, just a snippet, but it’s enough to give us a pretty god idea of what to expect. It has promise but my only hope is that the vocal effects aren’t overdone in the whole track.

Just ‘Cause: Nyan Cat Piano Cover by Sherry Kim

Those of you fortunate enough to have bypassed the Nyan Cat viral video up until now, consider yourself lucky. I would also suggest you skip this post as it is one of the most baffling things to inexplicably become famous on the internet – racking up 20+ million views on Youtube before being removed for copyright infringement.

So the remixes are expected, and they are abundant to say the least. But this one in particular stood out to me as a girl named Sherry Kim decided to play this out on the old black and whites and you know what? It’s so much more digestible in this format. What do you think?

For the original, see below. Don’t say I didn’t warn you… it’s hypnotically absurd.
