[Album Release] Decipher – The Sound Effect (The Effect Acapellas) [Free DL]

This release isn’t really geared towards the general audience but rapper Decipher has just put out The Sound Effect, the acapellas behind his well received album The Effect. You get all fourteen of the songs from the album, minus the instrumentals so all you DJ’s, producers, and mash up artists should jump on this release and share your creations with us! Maybe one of you can try to pair up these acapellas with the instrumentals from Illmind’s recent Behind the Curtain album. The Sound Effect is available as a free download via the bandcamp widget below!

[Mini MV] Rocky Rivera – “Slick Talk”

Here’s a quick little street video for Rocky Rivera‘s “Slick Talk”, a remix joint over a Dilla instrumental from her free mixtape Pop Killer released last week. The full version features Bambu on the track but this video clip just showcases Rock’s verse; who, by the way, goes in harder than a lot of MC’s in recent memory. It would have been sweet to see a full MV for the whole song but this clip is a dope watch in of itself.

[Cover Video] Dawen x Jane Lui x Gerald Ko Sing Backstreet Boys in Chinese

We’ve started to share most cover videos on our facebook & twitter pages to help de-clutter our blog, but every now and we come across a video we just have to share. Three extremely talented artists, Dawen, Jane Lui, and Gerald Ko put this Chinese translated remix of the 90′s Backstreet Boys hit song “I Want It That Way”. Similar to Dawen’s remix of “Friday”, this song is a very enjoyable and humorous rendition of a well known single. Great stuff.

[Studio Performance] Kristine Sa Covers Tony T Nguyen’s “Not Alone”

Artists Tony T Nguyen and Kristine Sa are known to frequently work together so it’s no surprise to see Kristine cover Tony’s own original ballad “Not Alone”. Of course it has a completely different feel when sung by a female, but I’d like to hear a polished studio version after seeing this clip. This live studio version had a couple rough spots, particularly when Kristine has to drop into her lower register but I think the song has potential if cleaned up… and maybe even turned into a duet featuring both artists.

[Studio Performance] Baiyu – “Together” [Free DL]

NY’s Baiyu just posted up a live studio performance clip of her song “Together” in a completely unplugged, acoustic style. It’s a pretty decent switch up to the Pop/R&B original off her Fan Fair EP released back in April, and the official MV in May. I won’t say I think it’s better than the original, but it is an enjoyable remix and good pairing of the acoustic guitar with her raw vocals. Baiyu has also posted up the track as a free DL, so get it while you can!

[Music Video] Blue Scholars – “Fou Lee”

Fresh off the release of the Blue Scholars’ latest album, Cinemetropolis, they have a new music video for the single “Fou Lee”. The duo continues to expand their sound and push boundaries with their music although I was a bit underwhelemed by the MV. Although it’s an interesting watch with some fun moments, the bulk of it is also a bit uneventful. Get both the song and full album on bandcamp now or iTunes & Amazon starting tomorrow.
