Dumbfoundead Performs “Selfish”

Rapper DFD aka Dumbfoundead may have slowed down with his Youtube presence, but that doesn’t mean he’s finished with the video streaming giant. Though he’s been hard at work on his music and podcasting grind, he just posted up a new performance clip of “Selfish”, a little ditty he spit to Miguel’s “Sure Thing” instrumental. It’s a slow tempo, chill return for the MC – and a welcome one at that.

[Music Video] Big Will – “9 to 5″ [Free DL]

Back in April, Big Will shared one of his older tracks from the vault entitled “9 to 5“. Today he’s also posted up the previously un-released music video that appears to have been made last year. It’s got that 90′s radio west coast vibe to it, which makes sense since that’s where Will reps to the fullest. Like what you hear? You can DL the song for free here.

[Promo MV] Furis – “Breakfast” [Free DL]

Furis, who seems to have a penchant for video as much as audio, has just dropped some visuals for his track “Breakfast”. The watch is a little abstract but a cool mash up of various footage from different perspectives. Furis stays true to his style, retaining his laid back So-Cal flow. “Breakfast” is available as a free DL via bandcamp.

[Spoiler Alert] Dia Frampton’s Semi-Final Results on NBC’s The Voice

It’s another week in the world of reality television, and another stage in the singing competition The Voice in NBC. Our favorite, Dia Frampton of band Meg & Dia, has just been voted in via (confusing) score calculations taking into account both judge and public voting. She scored slightly higher than teammate Xenia to earn the right to move on to the final week of competition. Dia will be facing off against Vicci Martinez, Javier Colon, and Beverly McClellan for the top spot! Catch her fantastic performance of “Losing My Religion” below.

[Song Preview] Paul Dateh – “Hello/Goodbye”

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been curious as to why we haven’t heard any new, original material from Paul Dateh. He breaks the proverbial creative silence today with a preview of a new song tentatively titled “Hello/Goodbye”. Although still a work in progress, Paul wanted to share his new creative direction and sound along with a little explanation. I’ll let you read it for yourself below.

it’s been well over a year since i’ve released new material. it’s not that i haven’t been writing or recording; it’s just that i’ve been struggling to figure out what kind of music i want to make next.

after many, many months of trial and error, i feel that i’m now finally at a point where i’m comfortable in starting to let you listen in on my progress.

here’s a draft recording of a song i’ve codenamed “hello/goodbye”. the title might change as the song gets closer to completion, but it at least fits the bill, for now.

i’ll keep working on this track (and others as well), but i hope you enjoy this draft version in the meantime.

talk to you soon,
pd

[Live Performance] Erika David – “Lemme Go” on MYX TV

A couple month’s ago, Erika David shared a new song entitled “Lemme Go” which she also recently performed for MYX TV. It’s a well edited video that showcases the catchy song though I’m not too sure the audio mixing was up to par. Her vocals sounded too loud and could have used a little reverb but it didn’t detract too much from the performance.

And just for kicks, we’ve posted up a new cover video she did of Lil Wayne’s “How to Love”. Catch it after the break!

[MV Teaser] David Choi x Wong Fu – “By My Side”

David Choi is looking to make a return by revisiting a winning formula. He is once again collaborating with WongFu Productions for his latest music video, the title track from his album By My Side. You may recall he successfully linked up with the video production group for his MV for “That Girl” last year. The leading lady is the fashionable and beautiful Jenny Ong and the MV is scheduled to debut in a couple weeks on July 5th.

[New Music] Mondega – “Life Love Loyalty”

Wow, Mondega really can’t seem to stop leaking tracks! It’s another new joint and called “Life Love Loyalty” featuring Aviator on the hook and production. This particular release has a little bit more of a classic boom-bap type of feel, complete with a simple chanted chorus. Take a listen via the Youtube clip and you’ll find the lyrics provided after the break.

[Single Releases] Alexander Spit – “Real RSWD” & “Six Days” Remix [Free DL]

We haven’t heard from Hip-Hop recording artist Alexander Spit in a while but he’s made his return today with two new drops – “Real RSWD” & a “Six Days” remix. He retains his relaxed, laid-back flow, which I’ve been a fan of since I first heard him, over a pair of slightly abstract but intriguing beats. Hopefully these songs serve as an indicator that he’ll be more regular with new material from now on.  They are both free downloads via Soundcloud so peep em both below!

[Album Release] Dru B Shinin’ – The CleanUp [Free DL]

Does the name Dru B Shinin’ sound familiar? Maybe it’s cause he’s one of the graduates from our feature section “The Freshmen”. The people have spoken and he’s made it into our news coverage. The Hip-Hop artist kicks it off with the release of his latest album The CleanUp. It’s a slightly shorter release than many albums, measuring just 8 tracks long but it’s a good opportunity to see if his music can match his growing buzz. You can stream it in full or go ahead and DL it for your own playlist as it’s a completely free DL. Check the bandcamp widget.
