Just ‘Cause: Support The ‘Uploaded: The Asian American Movement’ Documentary

There is an ever so important film in the works entitled Uploaded: The Asian American Movement, documenting the recent rise of Asian-Americans in the media and arts industry. In other words, it’s like this site but in a packaged movie format. They spoke with a number of artists including Clara Chung, AJ Rafael, David Choi, George Shaw, Feats in Inches, Jennifer Chung, Paul Jisung Kim, Paul Dateh, Jane Lui, Cathy Nguyen, Krystle Cruz & more so they definitely have the right people to talk on the subject. They are looking to raise funds via a Kickstarter campaign and we encourage you to consider joinging the effort. Click through to their Kickstarter page to see how you can help make it happen.

Check after the break for additional information.

PK x Dan aka Dan Rock Out with a “Bad Haircut”

I can’t say I was expecting this one but comedian PK has teamed up with afterschoolspecial’s Dan aka Dan for a silly little music video called “Bad Haircut”. Dan is known as the veteran rock-rapper but PK held his own behind the mic too; though I guess we already knew about that. The only problem now is the phrase “hair cut slut” is going to be stuck in my head for days. An entertaining if ridiculous watch.

Matt Brevner Goes “#Beastmode” in This Live Session

Vancouver Canada’s Matt Brevner makes his return with a in-studio video clip of him and Tee Loc recording a track entitled “#Beastmode”. These are all one-take clips with the emcee’s in the booth. They spit with a lot of energy and dedication, a promising start to what will likely be a strong final studio track. I’m looking forward to hearing the final product.

Inside the studio with Matt Brevner and Tee Loc. Audio is captured with a canon 7d, then layered with what the artists are hearing in their headphones.
One Take is Key.

OnFire Ent Share Their “Dreams Money Can Buy” Remix MV

The Northwest’s OnFire Entertainment continue churn out remix music videos with their latest being a flip of Drake’s “Dreams Money Can Buy”. I thinks is another step in the right direction for the group, their introspective raps have been more on point than their party oriented tracks. No real hook this time around, but I can live with that. Check the lyrics after the break.

David Choi x Wong Fu Release the “By My Side” MV

The largely anticipated music video by David Choi and Wong Fu Productions for his song “By My Side” off his sophomore album of the same name has just dropped and it’s another stellar collaboration between the two groups. Wong Fu continues to step up their production values and add a great visual flair to David’s simple and heart warming song. The fact that Jenny Ong is a beautiful female lead doesn’t hurt either.

Check the making of after the break.

Model Minority Drops The Tiger Sons Tape [Free DL]

Hip-Hop group Model Minority have dropped yet another mixtape, this one entitled The Tiger Sons Tape and features a varied mix of topical raps, goofy to serious. There’s a lot of recognizable beats in use here, a common trait among most Hip-Hop mixtapes, but they’re all flipped pretty differently from the originals. The trio of D-One, Grandmaster Chu and Inglish are offereing up this 22 track release as a free DL via Bandcamp.

Catch the MV for their remix of the Fort Minor track “Where’d You Go” after the break.

Jennifer Chung Interviews w/ ChannelAPA

Here’s a great in-studio interview of Jennifer Chung. She sat down to chat with ChannelAPA and they got to talking about her up-bringing, her big start on Youtube, musical influences, what to expect from her upcoming album and a whole lot more. Definitely a recommended watch and a great pre-cursor of what’s to come. All signs are indicating that the rest of 2011 will be a big year for the Pop singer.

Lyrics Born Features on Headnodic’s “Moving On Up”

Bay Area native Lyrics Born has a feature spot on Headnodic’s latest track “Moving On Up” released in late June with the music video released earlier this week. It’s kind of a trippy song and visual but a somewhat refreshing stylistic flip compared to all the music we hear on the radio. If you can appreciate a little alternative Hip-Hop, give this one a listen. L Beezy closes out the track.

Thai x Liz Stefano Debut with “Broken Wings” [Free DL]

454 Life Entertainment’s Thai just dropped a brand new track entitled “Broken Wings” featuring Liz Stefano on the hook. I gotta commend Thai & company for this one because this just may one of his strongest releases yet. Liz’s contribution on the chorus perfectly balances Thai’s emotional raps over a sharply produced instrumental (courtesy of their in-house producer Traxamillion). I recommend that you don’t sleep on this one. The song is available as a free DL here.
