Showdown: Gerald Ko vs Jennifer Chung

Oof. We haven’t had a Showdown feature since May! Why don’t we go ahead and rectify that, shall we? This time we have two Youtube staples in the form of Singindork888 aka Gerald Ko vs Jennifer Chung. They both tackle the comeback single from Demi Lovato that debuted in July – “Skyscraper”. So go ahead and watch/take a listen and vote for your favorite version!

Gerald Ko

Jennifer Chung

So who will it be? The more conventional pop cover by Jen Chung? Or perhaps the all acoustic re-arrangement by Gerald? In case you don’t know how this works it’s pretty simple. Go ahead and cast your vote using the widget below and see where your opinion falls with the rest of the general public. It’s all in good fun!

Oak & Gorski Re-Release Vienna to Venice

Crazy to think it’s already been 5 years since Oak & Gorski, then known as the Ken Oak Band, released the album Vienna to Venice. Though not the first album put out by the group, it was the first album that they released solely as a duo. Ever since then it’s been just the two of them – hence the re-christening of the name from Ken Oak Band to Oak & Gorski. It seems like they are making this a short run, limited release so if you never got a chance to hear some of their early work… now is as opportune time as any. Buy it here.

Andy Suzuki & The Method Perform “300 Pianos” Live at the Greene Space

If you haven’t heard Andy Suzuki & the Method’s “300 Pianos” yet, this is probably one of the best ways to be introduced to the song. The band posted up their recent performance from WNYC Radio’s Battle of the Boroughs 2011 at the Greene Space and did an awesome job. The song may not exactly be brand new anymore but it’s one of those tunes I appreciate more and more with every listen. Props to the band for this one, can’t wait to catch em live myself sometime.

Bambu & The Diamond Supply Co Presents “The Streets”

LA’s Bam is teaming up with apparel brand The Diamond Supply Co to bring you a limited edition shirt & snapback. In promotion of this cross-branding event they’ve brought you a new clean visual for a little something called “The Streets”. Not much to say except it’s classic Bam representing a classic brand in classic LA. The clothing package will include an EP by rising producer 6 Fingers (who literally seems to have a… er.. finger… in everything).

D-League Has Gone “Ape Sh*t”

We haven’t heard from the Florida duo known as D-League in a while but that changes today with the release of their latest track “Ape Shit”. As you can expect from the title and album art, Demo & Uncut went in heavy on this track on a more serious tone. I just wish the instrumental had some more low-end cause this song could have hit a lot harder with some additional oomph. Take a listen and download the song for free via the widget below.
