Sam Ock x Evan Chapman Support The Supply with “Stories”

Here’s a post to break up today’s many Hip-Hop related news stories. Even though Sam Ock just released a solo EP yesterday, that doesn’t mean he’s going to let up on his creative grind. This new song and video pair is called “Stories” and has been released as a promotional single with all proceeds going straight to The Supply Education Group. Together with Evan Chapman assisting on the percussion, the half of June have put together a pretty great song with a moving message and powerful cause. Get the song for a dollar or name your own donation amount for The Supply.

Big Will & Jay Cee Show You How to “Roll With a G”

Taking a much more cinematic approach to this visual release, rapper Big Will shares with us the MV for “Roll With a G”. BW (with Jay Cee on the hook) takes his signature monotone flow ala Fab and brings us an intense song and video complete with a gangster inspired story line and cliff hanger ending. I felt the visual aspect was more intriguing than the song itself but who knows, maybe this one just takes a few listens to warm up to.

Some Behind the Scenes footage can be found after the break.

Preview J. Reyez’s Upcoming Mixtape – ‘My Life in Contrast’

I believe a lot of time has passed since the last official sizable release from Canadian rapper J. Reyez. He’s dropped countless singles, videos, and collabs but it seems like the time for a new mixtape has come with the release date tentatively set for the project titled My Life in Contrast. In the clip below you can check out a number of tracks that should be on the collection. He does seem to favor the slower, more introspective beats – nothing wrong with that. Let’s just hope this body of work exhibits growth and improvement from his One Step Closer tape back in ’09.

D-League Releases “The Good Die Young” ft Oboogz PME in Remembrance of Fallen Friend

The one-two punch known as D-League have just release a new track entitled “The Good Die Young”. The song is an ode to a friend who was killed in Florida as the result of an act of violence. This is one of those times where I’m sorry that tragedy inspired art but what we are presented with today is a poignant and important reminder to value and protect those close to us. Our condolences to the victim and his family and friends. The song is available as a free DL in remembrance.

D-League just released a song in memory of their friend Kemar Clayton who passed away last week due to violence.

“We felt the best way to say pay our homage was to do it by doing what we do best and thats in a song, Kemar we love you homie”.

Shout out to Oboogz from OneTwo Media for lending some words also.

New Single from Paul Kim – “You Left Me For That”

We’ve heard a number of leaks from Paul Kim, but it’s been quite some time since he dropped an official single. That changes with the release of “You Left Me For That”, a mid-tempo ukulele driven Pop tune that’s like an R&B version of Jason Mraz. Not a bad combo if you ask me. I can understand why the crooner seemed especially proud of this tune when speaking about it in interviews. If you’d like to add it to your collection, then go ahead and get the song now on iTunes & AmazonMP3.
