Prometheus Brown Releases ‘Brownouts Vol. 1′

Brownouts Vol. 1 is a collection of tracks that feature Prometheus Brown aka Geo of the Blue Scholars, packaged as a single project for your listening enjoyment and convenience. It contains a number of collabs, rough drafts, photos, b-sides, etc – things any die hard fan would have killed for before the advent of the digital age, where these files can be shared so easily. DL the project for free here.
Jay Park Features for Cha Cha Malone on “Single Life”

Jay Park has once again joined forces with his fellow Art of Movement dance crew member, Cha Cha Malone. They’ve previously collabed on “Bestie” and “Speechless”. Malone, a singer and producer in his own right, got Park to contribute guest vocals for their latest called “Single Life”, a mid-tempo Pop/R&B tune. Admittedly, we’re a tad late in sharing this with you all – but in case any of you missed it thus far, we imagine you’d still want to hear it. There are a lot of options to obtain the song. First, you can stream it via Youtube below. If you want a copy for yourself, you can purchase via Bandcamp, or DL for free using one of the following. file sharing links.

Quest Crew Dances to “Horizon” by Francesco Novara x Violette
This is a pretty cool way to close out your night. Members of Quest Crew decided to set their art to the music of Francesco Novara & Violette, filming their moves with some nifty Go Cameras and an DSLR. There are some pretty awesome shots here, nevermind the fact they are in constant acrobatic motion to begin with. Steve Terada, Ryan Feng and Ryan Conferido are the three members representing in this visual piece.
Paul Dateh Performs and Interviews w/ Knocksteady
Musician/Singer/Producer/Violinist extraordinaire, Paul Dateh, was one of the latest guest on Dumbfoundead’s Knocksteady series. As per the usual show format, he performs and then chats with the crew. To say the dude is dope is an understatement. The interview is fairly in depth and provides perhaps one of the best glimpse yet of the man behind the violin.

Tracy Cruz Releases the ‘Universal Symphony’ Album & “Love Galaxy” MV

Neo-Soul/R&B singer Tracy Cruz has released her sophomore album, Universal Symphony. The 13 track album includes her lead single, “Love Galaxy”, for which you can see the music video after the break. If you’re an R&B fan but want something different from all the Pop/R&B acts featured here, Tracy is a valid option to explore. Just don’t mind the production values of that MV, because it makes everything cheesier than it needs to be – a shame because there’s some solid music here. Jessica Sanchez Performs “What Ya Want”
I’m usually not a fan of single-cam, crowd sourced performance footage but this one is passable in quality and most importantly showcases young Jessica Sanchez performing an original song of hers called “What Ya Want”. Jessica’s videos are almost exclusively comprised of covers but this is a notable exception. Could this be an upcoming single? A cut off an EP or an album? We’re not sure but we’ll be sure to let you know once we find out!
Jason Grandmaster Chu of Model Minority Releases Solo Mixtape – ‘The Uncool’

Jason Grandmaster Chu, one third of Hip-Hop troupe Model Minority, has a solo offering out called The Uncool. For this release, He chose to stick to the concepts of brokeness, hope and healing and to put his money where his mouth is, all proceeds from the mixtape will go towards The Red Thread Movement, a charity that works to provide education and employment for at-risk girls and women rescued from the illegal sex trade in Nepal. The first 10 tracks are free with the option to purchase the entire 13 for 5 dollars via bandcamp.
There’s a lot of interesting and encouraging things being said though his mixes could use a little more polish. You can check out the MV for the title track after the break.
Gowe Shares An Acoustic Rendition of “Star In My Eyes”
Gowe was recently featured on Strawburry17′s YT channel where he gave an unplugged acoustic performance of his hit song “Star In My Eyes“. It’s a very interesting viewing as he completely flipped the song, swapping in a male vocal for the original’s Erin Kim, and forgoing percussion completely by only being backed by a keyboard. I was really impressed by this drastic re-arrangement. Definitely recommend you check this one out!
Snapshot: The Far East Movement Tour Bus
This past summer, the Far East Movement had the incredible opportunity to go on a nation wide tour with Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Keri Hilson & more – and part of the perks to joining such a high profile tour is getting your own mobile accommodations aka… a tour bus. Take one look at that vehicle and you know FM has undeniably “made it”. If having your faces plastered across a 40 foot bus for the purpose of touring with the best selling Hip-Hop acts of 2011 doesn’t scream commercial success… then I don’t know what does.
This photo was taken from their official Facebook albums of the tour. You can view more great pictures here and here.
