Notorious MSG Releases the “Red Tonight” MV

It’s been months since the Notorious MSG first revealed the preview for their “Red Tonight” music video (announced in May). But the day has come for it’s official release, in all it’s nostalgia-hazed, stylistic glory. The song is from their Heavy Ghetto album that dropped earlier this year and well… let’s just say both are 100% authentic MSG. I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether that’s a good or bad thing. As for me, their general zaniness and debauchery tends to err more on the side of humorous than not… mutchasuckaaaaa.

Laura Song Featured on ‘Understand The Vision [Vol.3]‘

There’s a new mixtape making the rounds called ‘Understand The Vision [Vol.3]‘ by Arsonal Productions & DJ Inkognito. To be frank, we aren’t so much interested in the tape as whole but two tracks in particular stuck out, “Cake” and “I Swear”. Why is that? Well it features the DMV’s Laura Song, whom we have yet to actually hear a studio solo joint from. They are shorter tracks, likely to accommodate the vast quantity on the whole tape but from what is there, Ms Song sounded great. Will someone please help jump start Laura’s career? We want to hear more!

Check out tracks 13 & 14 to hear what we mean, you can also download the tape from DatPiff.

Just ‘Cause: Gowe Shares the Story Behind His Adoption and Biological Mother

Most Gowe fans are aware that he has a unique story behind his heritage, family, and Faith. More specifically, Gowe grew up believing he was a Chinese-American until a starting discovery as a young adult where he learned that he is actually a Korean-American adoptee that was brought into his current Chinese family. Other than, I imagine most wouldn’t know the details but in this clip he did with Inspire, the Seattle MC shares about how those events played out and continue to shape him, even today.

Now that you’ve seen the clip, perhaps that helps give just a little more perspective to his song “I Wonder“.

Shin-B Featured on HipHopDX

It looks like Shin-B has gotten a feature on HipHopDX with an acapella video piece called “16 Bars”. It’s a collection of black and white footage set to a beatless recital of the first verse from her track “2 the Top”. The video is great exposure for the MC, especially since she just dropped her long overdue debut album 3 Choices, though the response from the HHDX readers generally seemed middling at best.

JL Reveals Cover Art for ‘Destination: Murdertown’

With a couple leaks already out there, the release date for JL‘s Destination: Murdertown mixtape is fast approaching. So when is going to drop? October 31st, aka Halloween – a seemingly appropriate date judging by the direction of the cover art. You can likely expect the rest of the Beautiful Cycle crew to make an appearance or two, and I’m guessing he has a few surprises in store for us as well. For a refresher, check out “Possessed Swordsmen” and “Clash of the Titans“.

David Choi Performs “Underneath Your Love”

As part of the promotions for his recently released album Forever and Ever, David Choi has shared a live performance in the park of his song “Underneath Your Love” off the LP. Passport: Clara C Music Featured in A1 Telekom Ad in Europe

Check out this awesome ad for Austrian telecommunications company A1 Telekom. No, I don’t like it because of the services being advertised, I could care less about international consumer communications – but rather I find it noteworthy because it features a song by Clara C – “Til We Go” off her The Art in My Heart album from last year. It’s official, she’s gone international folks! Congrats to Clara on her continued success.

We’re kind of playing catch up with the news on our artists abroad, but recently Chan & Maniac, formerly of Uptown and now known as the duo, New Dynasty, dropped a new single called “That’s Alright”. It’s an R&B/Hip-Hop jam that makes a solid radio single and provides something a little smoother for their more general music fans. It’s available via digital korean retailers, so if you know how to get it, please do! The track features KPop/R&B singer JD on the chorus.
