But this got us thinking, what other artists do you think should get their album art permanently emblazoned on their person and why?

Mid-week hump… why don’t we have another Youtube round-up! Today’s theme is “rap remix”, so all of the following are beats that our rappers decided to flip and use for their own purposes. Nothing wrong with that, just as long as you recognize it’s not a completely organic offering. The first two in our collection are placed as such because they have, by far, the best production values among the group. Thai’s in particular, is up to 454′s usual impeccable visual standards. But don’t sleep on Miss TLu of On Fire, the girl shows promise. The rest of the gang include a collab by Toestah & Jen Chung, LA’s 3Strykes representing too, Lil Crazed with a little spin-off of MGK, DUKE keeping things fun with a LMFAO joint and Verse rounding out the pack. Lot’s of Jay-Z x Kanye beats in here, I guess they are a crowd favorite.

Magnet has a new interview out with Rachael Yamagata, fresh off the release of her album Chesapeake. The best thing about the interview is probably the fact they dive a little deeper into the music making process, discussing specifics of various songs along with how and why things are on the record or not. Instead of starting of focusing on the person and then touching upon the craft they do the opposite; letting the discussion of the art speak for it’s creator. A recommended and easy read. Check it out here.

Remember when we said Shin-B‘s debut album, 3 Choices, would be released on October 31st? If you’re looking to get your fix in early here in the States, you can! Though her team has been relatively quiet about the fact, the album is already available on iTunes & AmazonMP3. So get a jump on the 9 track release now!

Looks like veteran producer !llmind was given a good look and is the host of the latest in a long line of beat mixtapes – Coast 2 Coast Instrumentals Vol: 30. It’s a whopping 38 track release complete with songs and instrumentals by a lot of artists you probably know, sprinkled with some interludes by the beat-man himself. The tape is available from DatPiff for free stream & download.
And… just for fun, don’t miss out on his interview with Coast 2 Coast mag.
Love him or hate him, you can’t say VS aka Songs to Wear Pants to isn’t trying to switch things up and keep his releases fresh. In his latest visual for “Rhyme” off his Hearing a Truth Serum project, VS takes it in an old-school direction hailing back to the day of VHS tapes and boom boxes. Pre-Youtube, pre-dvd, pre-ipod, pre-cd… you remember those days don’t you? Well, with the help of some cardboard props, he brings it all back.

If you’ve been wanting to hear a preview of Florida rap group, D-League‘s upcoming Life Up EP than this is the perfect opportunity for you. “We Are Kings” is a new track featuring Lucian on the hook, with the duo appearing to make all the right moves with this one. Let’s see if they can carry the momentum into the final project when it drops next month. Grab it from the widget below.

If you follow J-Pop, you may be familiar with an artist by the name of Jin Akanishi, formerly of the popular group KAT-TUN. Well, he’s been successful after branching out on his own and it looks like he has set his eyes on the US market with the release of an album and single. The former is called The Takeover (ambitious ain’t it?) and the latter is called “Test Drive” and will feature hit R&B artist Jason Derulo. Does Akanishi have what it takes to break into the western industry? We don’t know but we’re excited to find out!
Derez (formerly City Boy) has a new drop on a song by another indie artist, T.C. The song is called “Southwest Explosion” and they put together a music video to promote the track. If the visual style seems familiar it’s cause Derez handled the direction for the video. So in that sense, it has all the same strengths and shortcomings of his usual work. Wasn’t too crazy about this track but you may beg to differ. The track is available as a free DL here.

David Choi has reached a great milestone in his relatively short career, he’s just released his 3rd full length album in just as about as many years. Forever and Ever is the latest collection of a dozen original tracks by the Youtube staple, including the single “This and That is Life“. If you didn’t get your pre-order in, you can find the album online from various distributors. We’ll be sure to update this post with the links as they become available.
