Singer/songwriter star on the rise, August Rigo, has posted up a performance clip of his song “Kill Me” off his recent Too Big to Fail mixtape from last month. This particular rendition is of the unplugged variety, featuring nothing but Rigo and his trusty keyboard. The dude sounds great and only serves to re-enforce the idea that he deserves every bit of that Island Def Jam deal he inked earlier this year.

See the “Best Friend” MV by Jason Chen

Jason Chen has finally dropped his new single and accompanying MV, “Best Friend”. As previously mentioned, the video features Cathy Nguyen in the titular leading role and direction and production was handled by the newly formed Dreamlapse Project. The whole thing can be summed up in one word, “cute”, and i mean I that non-condescendingly. I have a feeling that’s exactly what they were going for.
Snapshot: Lyricks x Dumbfoundead x Esna Yoon x Manifest x Zo x Lyraflip x JL
I’m honestly not sure when or where this picture was taken, or even how we found it. But my best guess is that this is on set of the music video for “Lava” by JL, L. Scatterbrain, Lyraflip, Lyricks, Manifest, Dumbfoundead and DJ Zo – meaning the photo has to be at least a year and a half to two years old. How’s that for a Snapshot in time? Esna makes an appearance though L.S. is curiously missing… perhaps he’s taking the picture?
Odd to think how much has happened since this photo was taken. Mani & JL have been to Korea and back again (welcome home fellas!), Lyricks has remained a staple in the DMV/East Coast Hip-Hop scene, Dumb & Zo have been conquering the world… and I dunno where Flip & Scatter are right now. They’ve been kind of quiet, fell off our radar a bit. Can’t wait to see what will become of everyone in another two years!
Rocky Rivera, Hopie Spitshard Participate in TeamBackPack Rooftop Cypher
Check out the following footage of three female MC’s killin it on a rooftop cypher in the Bay hosted by TeamBackPack. Rocky Rivera and Hopie Spitshard are joined by Plane Jane in this 1-2-3 round of verses – with each MC showing why they not only demand your attention, the deserve it. These girls went in on this beat… too dope. We need more in-person, group cyphers on Youtube.

Andrew Huang & Friends Perform “Understand”
Here’s another promo music visual by Andrew Huang for a song off his Love Songs released. He’s accompanied by Leah Hunger & Joanna McEwen for this quaint little video of “Understand”. It’s simple but fitting, par for the course. Some of you might scoff at this but I can oddly appreciate his artistic choices to keep production simple. And maybe it’s me but I almost didn’t recognize the dude with the short hair cut.
