a-Tunes News: 2011 – A Recap

You all won’t see this post until the waning minutes of 2011 (EST) but as I type this earlier on New Year’s Eve, I’ve had the opportunity to reflect and look back on the past year in the world a-Tunes. Here’s a few of the notable milestones along the way:

  • We turned three in June. 3 years old and going strong. Crazy to think how we started as a tiny blog in 2008 and grew simply by word of mouth from all the amazing artists we cover and you, the reader. We couldn’t thank you enough.
  • Speaking of growing, it was easily our best year yet in terms of readership and posts. Also, we’re not too far away from our 5000th post, and we couldn’t be more excited to see more and more artists putting themselves out there, following their dream and keeping us busy.
  • We’ve had the amazing opportunity to either partner with and/or cover some incredible events. We started the year off on a great note by beginning partnerships with Inspire & Helping Hands and helped launch Inspire 2011 on the East coast. We also had the great chance to attend events like UMCP’s SPEAK, and Kollaboration Acoustic 5. We look to be even more involved with events such as these in 2012.
  • As a thank you to all of our readers, we’ve given away iPods, music, pocket cams, and tickets to shows all across the country. We couldn’t be here without you and we want to make sure we show you our appreciation!

These are just a few of the memorable moments we’ve had in the past 365 days. For the next 366 (leap year!), we look to focus on providing you with more exclusive content (interviews, album reviews, etc) and doing all we can to continue to provide a platform for all of our artists, and a portal for all our readers. Over the course of the next week or so, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite releases and occasions regarding the artists. We’ll kick things off with a countdown of what I consider to be the best music videos from 2011.

If you’ve been with us since the beginning, thank you so much for sticking around. If you’ve joined us more recently or at any point in between, we’re more than elated to have you along – whether you’re an artist, a fan, or both. Here’s to an amazing 2012, filled with music. Happy New Year.

Krystle Cruz Joins Alex de Guzman & Excel Cruz for “Sh!tGotDamn”

Daygo’s Krystle Cruz has a guest spot on a new track from Alex de Guzman, “Sh!tGotDamn” also featuring Excel Cruz. The R&B joint has it’s own DSLR music video that is sharp enough though a bit uneventful. I wouldn’t have complained had they ventured out of the house for a scene or two. If you like what you hear then you can DL the track for free here.

Decipher Jumps on the “Hit the Club” Remix by The Yellow Boyz

It’s been about a week since YBZ dropped their new single “Hit the Club” but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to hear a new remix. This new version features Philly’s Decipher joining the crew by opening the song with the first verse. Almost makes me wonder what could have been had they made this a posse cut and gotten a lot of other artists to jump in on the action too.
