Listen to “The Best” by Adam WarRock

Adam WarRock has jumped on a Mikla kHill instrumental that samples Joe Esposito’s “You’re the Best” for a track appropriately titled, “The Best”. It’s filled with the type of boastful braggadocio that is so prominent in the world of Hip-Hop, but with the expected WarRock twist. Like it? You can DL the song here for free. Feng reps for Quest while Moon reps for I.aM.mE and together they’ve put together a piece of choreo called “It’s On”. Asian kids have come a long way from being known as the DDR champs.

The Youtube Collab Round-Up – 1/31/12

We figured why not end the last day of the first month with a new batch of Youtube covers. This round-up is another sampling platter of collaborations among different artists. There’s a lot of acoustic music in this particular grouping, with one particular exception. As always, the production qualities vary wildly but there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

Latyrx (LB x Lateef) Release the “Hardship Enterprise” Music Video

Lyrics Born & Lateef the Truthspeaker have been known to collectively go under the Latyrx moniker, and that’s the route they chose to travel for the promotion of “Hardship Enterprise” off of Lateef’s recent Firewire album. The duo trade verses over an intense track, with the music video serving more as a psychedelic visualization than a regular lipsync visual. It’s hypnotically trippy.

Passport: David Choi’s “So Weightless” Placed in Korean Movie – Dancing Queen

South Korean media has used David Choi‘s music in the past, sometimes legally and sometimes illegally but luckily news of the latest placement appears to be of the former category. Mr Choi‘s song “So Weightless”, from his sophomore album By My Side has been featured in the film  “Dancing Queen” (댄싱퀸), that opened a couple weeks back. If you got some sharp ears, you should be able to hear the song play during a cafe scene. Below is what you should be listening for.

Big Phony Premieres Music Video for “I Love Lucy”

Those with a good memory and appreciation for acoustic folk-pop may recall the 2010 album by Big Phony called Kicking Punching Bags. Well Bobby Choy has had some big life changes since then, making the move from LA to Korea and resetting his career. That brings us to today, where we have the official music video for “I Love Lucy”, from the 09 project. They took things in a great retro-styled direction (with a few crazy twists thrown in), paying homage/satire to the pop culture references in the song. It’s been too long since we last heard from BP but this is a good start for making amends.
