Tonight, we decided to go with a more feminine direction, and rounded up an all-female ensemble of videos that features the classic 6-string. Everything from a song from AMC’s Mad Men to Bon Iver to Bob Dylan to Britney Spears is represented by these lovely ladies. I’ve heard some say they find it very attractive when a girl can play the guitar, if that be you, then you’ll surely enjoy this bunch.
Sea-town’s Gifted on West East is hard at work on his debut album, now officially titled We Are HyperGiants, and though it’s not due till June, he’s given us a sneak peak of one of the singles – “First Flight”. The song features his fellow hometown musical brethren, Travis Graham of New Heights, and you can get a glimpse of things to come with the video teaser (by Ed Park) he posted up today. Looks like we have a lot to look forward to.
A couple months back, singers Priscilla Ahn & Charlie Wadhams teamed up to form Sweet Hearts and released their self-titled EP. Since that time, they’ve already released a video for “Dear Sweetheart“, but are now adding another visual off the project for “I’m an Actor, Baby”. This one is more of a proper video, with some in-studio performance footage put together and set to their soothing brand of acoustic folk-pop.
Andy (frontman of Andy Suzuki & The Method) has posted up a little preview of an acoustic ballad called “Virginia” that straddles the line with a touch of sadness and hope. The shirtless Andy says this is from an upcoming project, so we’ll have to wait on the studio version, but I’m definitely liking what I’m hearing thus far. Take a listen, what do you think?
Last month, LMFAO released the MV to their latest single, “Sorry for Party Rocking”. Rather than trying to fix what ain’t broken, they stuck to their tried and true formula for this album of celebrated debauchery and lots of dancing. The Quest Crew have become staples of LMFAO videos, and this trend continues where they are also joined by their ABDC rivals, The Beat Freaks, and future alum Moon from IaMmE Crew. Check out all the behind the scenes goodies that Quest has provided, and if you missed the original video, you can find it after the break.
As promised, Emi Meyer has released her short, 4 song EP called LOL. This album has been available for a week in Japan, but it can now be purchased stateside from the usual digital retailing suspects. Unfortunately, the US release does not include the infectious tune, “On the Road“, as it was a Japan-only bonus track. Hopefully this project will get the proper promotional push on this side of the world, but I suppose time will tell.
In this interesting musical project, DJ JE enlisted the help of singers Michelle Martinez & Erin Paula to star in his music video for a mix he did called “Duplicity Matinee”, off his All It Takes collection. It’s essentially a well mixed track of a couple songs set to a nicely produced visual narrative. You can read more about the song itself, here. Well done, all the way around. Here’s what Michelle had to share about the video:
I wanted to share something a little different on my channel. My good friend DJ JE asked me to be apart of his music video mixes project, and since I enjoy acting as well as singing, I jumped at the opportunity. He wanted to make his mixes come to life by creating a story around them. So here it is… ENJOY!
