Perhaps many of you were caught up in the NFL draft but are curious about the results of tonight’s American Idol. But I’m here to say, rest easy folks. Our young starlet is once again safe for another week of nerve wracking competition in the musical boiler-room known as American Idol. Despite a night of performances that weren’t quite flawless, Ms Sanchez avoided the bottom 3 all together – earning herself a spot among the Top 5. It’s getting real here, friends. Keep supporting the kid! Full recap over at MJBB.

We’re down to the Top 6 finalist in American Idol, and once again the contestants had the opportunity to sing two songs during last night’s show. Our young Jessica Sanchez opened the show with her take on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, and then started the 2nd half with Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father”. The former seems to have drawn a mixed reaction throughout the interwebz, while the latter has evoked mostly critical praise. Hopefully Ms Sanchez did enough to help her avoid elimination – remember, there’s no more judges’ save.
Thursday feels about right for another round-up, what do you think? We’ve put together a collection of in-studio performance videos where the artists chose to stay in the comfort of their creative environments. R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, and everything in between all have representation in this mix. With 10 videos, I’m positive you’ll find something to enjoy, if not all.
A couple notes:
Sam Tsui kills it again.
I still can’t believe that new Brian McKnight song actually happened
I prefer Gabe’s version of “Strip” to the original
Erika’s cover/flip is on point

That’s right boys and girls. The sophomore season of the Glee Project now has an official premiere date – Tuesday, June 5th on the Oxygen channel. As a reminder, we’re particularly interested in this season of the competition because Abraham Lim is one of the contestants in the running to get a part on the hit Fox musical dramedy, Glee. So in a month and change, be ready to root on one of our very own, Mr. Lim!
Tim Chantarangsu aka Timothy DeLaGhetto aka Traphik has found himself to be the subject of a new Vibe.com interview. A lot of it is focused his new Cruise Control mixtape, along with what he plans to do from here on out. Big props to Tim for the look from another major media publication! Slowly but surely, people are taking notice of the community. Below is an excerpt from the interview. For the rest, head over to Vibe.com!
Has the priority shifted in terms of what comes number one passion-wise, whether it’s music or being a comedian?
At the end of the day, I’m all about making the world a brighter place. Right now, the videos in general are what’s making me my money and what I’m living off of whether it’s a music video or the comedy. Of course people are a lot more pickier with their music and it’s easier to make somebody laugh than to have everyone dig your music. So the music is always dope but it’s extra rewarding when people give you so much love on the music ‘cause I’m always a funny dude. But in terms of like where my priorities are, I’m just a Renaissance man.
