Definitely a bit on the late end however definitely not least. I was able to attend this year’s
Kollaboration Acoustic 5 and enjoy the unplugged version of the Asian American contest that has attracted many fans and singers alike in one spot for a night.

Showtime: UMCP ΣΨΖ presents SPEAK – 4/17/2011
It has been quite some time since our last Showtime feature, mostly in part due to lack of man-power and resources in attending and capturing/writing up on all the events out there. That’s why we are so thankfully to have had a little extra help in reporting on this event, SPEAK – an annual charity event dinner held by UMCP’s Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority.
The event is held in benefit of Odanadi, an organization devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, empowering and reintegrating survivors (women and children) of sex and human trafficking. The event is also tied into raising awareness for the Sexual Assault Awareness Month of April.
Showtime: Kina Grannis @ Jammin Java – 06/15/10
Last month Kina Grannis visited my neck of the woods and had a show at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA – just outside of Washington, DC. If the venue sounds familiar it’s because it’s the same place that hosted David Choi back in February. I always wondered if Kina’s well known charm from her Youtube videos and album could make the transfer to the live stage and was lucky enough to find out at this June 15th show.

One of the perks of the job is that we get to go to the performances/concerts and share our experience with the rest of the world. On the latest segment of “Showtime,” your girl Melody was there to represent a-Tunes on the west as I got to see an Asian American hip hop concert collaboration.

Showtime: Project Korea III @ Rutgers University – 4/3/2010
Hey folks, so I know it’s been a few weeks since the Project Korea III event featuring Clara Chung, Decipher, Johnnyphlo, Ailee, and Art of Movement went down but we didn’t want to leave you guys hanging without a recap (in case you haven’t read about the event already). We had some pictures and footage to share but quite frankly none of it came close to the quality of the photos and videos put out by the folks of AllKPOP, one of the major sponsors of the show. So just as a disclaimer, all visual multimedia content we are using here was actually captured by AKP. However, any editorial content presented (TEXT) reflect my opinions and thoughts and do not necessarily reflect those of AKP. Just thought we’d clear that up.

We’re starting up a new feature segment here at a-Tunes.net called ‘Showtime’ (not to be confused with our segment ‘Showdown’). This is where we go to the shows of the very artists we post about here and report back to you on the whole experience. So for those of you who aren’t able to catch some of these artists live, hopefully this will serve as some type of consolation =).
Our inaugural Showtime features the youtube favorite David Choi, who has won over masses of fans over via his popular youtube channel, and connected with people around the world using the wonders of social networking and online media. Since David is one of the first artists to parlay an online fan base into one big enough to support national and international tours, we were excited to hear he was finally coming to a venue near (one of) us on his east coast tour that wrapped up a couple weeks ago.
